Just had my 25'x25' pergola redone from a deteriorating roof done in Suntuf polycarbonate corrugated roof panels about 15 years ago. They eventually failed. My contractor replaced it with the Apollo Pergola cover system in tinted bronze. It's an absolutely fantastic roof!

I recently purchased ten 4' x 4' Apollo panels for my patio. My rafters are exactly 24 inches apart. Do you recommend installing purlins so I will not have to rip panels to size? I was thinking of installing 1" x 2" treated strips for the purlins. What would you suggest?

Yes the purlins will help but we suggest going with 2x2 purlins minimum. The 1x2 will just have the screws go right through them.

What % of fall is required for a 12' long slope?

For the Hercules system there needs to be a minimum slope of 2% and for the Apollo system the minimum is 4%.

Is the apollo impact proof? Hail proof ?

Apollo System Basics. Hail Resistance: The sheets are guaranteed for hail up to ¾” in diameter penetrating even a single layer. Anything larger than that should be covered by your homeowner's insurance. Wind Durability: For customers living along the coast or areas prone to high winds, we recommend our Hercules System as it is more durable with less structural support. Snow Loads: While these sheets can handle up to 40psf on structures with cross bracing, we recommend our Hercules System in regions that receive significant snowfall. Does putting these covers on potentially create lift in high winds? I would prefer not to make a projectile if I can help it. Seems like a great product but I definitely have some concerns. Thanks in advance.

Quite opposite. Our covers are able to withstand 125 MPH winds and are fixed to the pergola itself.

That pergola appears to be totally flat? I was told a slope is required for runoff.

Apollo comes in 4' ad 6' wide sheets. They used a combo: 6', 4', 4' & 6'

Worded in another way: what is the maximum spacing of the joists/rafters before the plastic begins to sag?
