Reggi, you’re a huge encouragement - just by being so honest. I too planned my exit from NYC DOE. I worked multiple teaching gigs - full time, per session - also called After-School work. I did scoring/grading of State exams etc. I saved liked a fein too, all while fixing up my 104 year old home on my own, as I’m single. God has been my Source of strength. I’m literally living off of savings. It’s feels so good having no money worries. To all who will read this and want to make this leap; you have to plan, be intentional. Clear up debts, save, live off of less than you earn, be patient and most importantly, pray.

I receive a pension and after being on a very strict budget I am managing. However to earn more money I occasionally substitute teach. I love fashion and want to style women over 50. I don’t know how to stretch my dollar so I can give up the part time job to do something I love. Although you seem to have a lot of resources, i am grateful for you and to see that a new life is possible! God bless!

Hi Reggi! Great to hear your story and I'm glad you talk about preparing because that's extremely important. Years ago my husband told me if you're planning to leave a company and you don't want them to know right away, take personal things home a little at a time. Do it in a way that people don't notice anything different about your desk or office. Also never talk to 'anyone' about your plans to leave before you go (the wrong person may hear and your leave date may be sooner than you want). He said he had to do this when he accepted a position at another company. The same concept applies even if you're not planning to go work for someone else. The preparation I put in place helped things to transition smoothly and I never missed or regretting leaving.

I was scared of retiring and I don't think anyone more than me was more prepared for retirement and could of retired at 55 and yet I keep falling to victim to the omy syndrome (one more year syndrome) until one day I just say screw and put in my two week notice......My hands were shaking before I hit the send key though because I knew being in tech for 20 yrs, there was no going back to a tech career....no more high salary unless I earned it through other means. But retiring at 58 was the best thing I could of done and only wish I had done it sooner. I let my fears rob me of a few additional years of happiness.

Thank you for being candid about your situation. I have this to share with all listeners: When it comes to living authentically, we cannot copycat or follow the blueprint of another life. It is okay to share experiences and utilize parts that fit us but ultimately, each person has the awesome task of finding their own path because hopes, desires, and needs differ. This requires deep introspection, honesty, and a willingness to do the work. Quieting the noises in our heads and around us, it is possible to embark on an amazing journey of self-discovery. Do the work, find your own path, and pray for the courage to begin your journey. May God bless your decision to self-actualize. Feel the fear and do it anyway; it is the only path to true, lasting happiness and joy.

Hi Reggi, I found your channel a couple weeks ago. I’m now a subscriber! Love your content. This is so timely. There are so many of us that have worked in corporate, over extended ourselves because of the “taxes” we had to pay. In turn we got burned out/sick due to unreasonable work expectations, raising a family and becoming a caregiver to aging parents. I’m there. At 62 I was part of a reduction in work force. I saw it coming and made a plan. Yes the reduction in income is scary, but I know I’m a planner, resilient, and know how to live a decent meaningful life. For the 1st time, Im prioritizing myself while taking care of 2 sick parents. Thank you for creating a platform where we can learn together. 🙏🏾❤️

Omg you just describe my life.....trying being the only bw on teams of all wm....ugghhh. I worked in IT for twenty years in the most stressful industries like healthcare and financial services companies like Barclays, Deloitte Touché and other small brokerages.......the pay was astronomical but the stress was killing me. Once I was financially able to, I actually did a step down approach to retirement. I quit the very stressful high paying jobs and I took lower paying but lot less stressful jobs. Unfortunately those jobs keep me in corporate longer although they were less stressful.

I also had two sick parents at the same time in two different states. Both of my parents were in and out of the hospital. My brother was in one state taking care of my mom and I was in another state helping to take care of my father.....they actually both passed away in the same year. My father passed away at the beginning of the year and my mom passed away at the end of the year.....and I had the honor of being with both of them when they took their last breath. I was the last face both of my parents saw when they passed away and although bittersweet.......I got a chance to help them both transition. I held their hands to the end and was softly telling them it was okay to let go and that family and friends were waiting for them.

The 9-5 work schedule for 40-50 years is outdated. Group economics work. That’s all the stock market is. We just have to integrate it at a micro level. That may require us to move in with a roommate, share memberships, travel in groups, shop with another family at Costco to reduce our expenses then shift that money into investments. Great & real vlog 👏You are so right that making ends meet is very hard after quitting a job but God always helps 🙏! I'm almost 55 & I haven't worked a "real" job since the pandemic hit us all 😞 I'd been wanting to quit my part-time job for years due to mental stress & that was the perfect excuse for me because I now had to take care of my autistic son 24/7. Now, I also take care of my elderly mom who has had strokes & many falls 😢 I too don't get paid for taking care of them and my KZbin is not monetized so no income of my own is tough 😔 but I thank God my hubby still works fulltime 🙏

Not related to the questions you asked, but I’d be interested to know what you’re doing to help with the menopause transition. I’m experiencing that right now. My regular doctor doesn’t seem to understand and offers no solutions. Went to a different provider who offered some solutions that seem to be working. But now my regular provider is saying he doesn’t recommend what I’m doing. I’m so conflicted and confused and don’t know what to do.

I'm 61 & so burnt out. Too, my mom just got diagnosed with Dementia & I'm really concerned her being by herself so, I'm considering quitting my job & cashing in a small 401k I have which would pay my bills for the next few months until I can start receiving my social security. My concern is medical insurance.
@reggisweat15 күн бұрын
That’s a lot to carry. Caring for a loved one with dementia is overwhelming. For medical insurance, you might explore COBRA or ACA Marketplace plans as a bridge. Take it one step at a time. You’re doing the best you can, and that matters. 🩷

I am a full time Mammography Tech and I use to travel for work as a Travel Mammography and LOVED it. I was making great money weekly, the same I make bi weekly now. My current job have a pension, free medical once I retire, I'm 47 years young now. Should I stay at my full time job that I really do not like but tolerate(it's not bad nor good lol) or go back traveling? I can pay off my car and house with Travel Mammography within 6 years and I love the freedom that comes with traveling. I can also contribute to a 401(K) and Roth IRA while traveling. It would just be nice to have that pension but I'll have to work 16 years to retire! Any advice? Love your content by the way!
@alexusjames676818 күн бұрын
Hi, I’m actually considering going back to school to do RT, MRI or CT because of the flexibility of travel. I recruit healthcare professionals and I’ve seen the money you guys get from travel. You can absolutely make in a week what some make biweekly. If you are able to save and put towards retirement regularly, you should be able to retire easily. You shouldn’t have to stay at this pension job with the current contract rates. Plus traveling gives you so much freedom and career flexibility. You can take time off as needed. Especially because you have a lot of years exp.

MsBennin, traveling could help you pay off debt and save faster, but the pension and medical benefits are valuable too. A mix of both might work-travel now, settle later. You’ve can do this! 💛

It’s sad that we live in a country that doesnt support caregivers especially when we choose to honor and take care of our parents/elders. @lewisvogel46619 күн бұрын
@@ladyllf48 It's easy. I save a ton of money by not paying rent. So I always have money to do what I want. I bought a Coleman stove to cook meals with, and I use it for heating in the winter. I pay 25 dollars a month for membership at Planet Fitness which is where I take showers at night. During the winter, I camp out in Arizona where it's warm. During the summer, I camp out in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho where temps are cooler. During the 20 years I've lived in my truck, I've written seven books about my life on the road, and I've done booksignings in several states.
