Do you have anything wired up to cut the throttle if the brake levels are pulled? Just wondering if you had a throttle fault and it gave out 100% throttle would you have a way to cut the power without hitting the little regen button?

One of your best videos I must say and high detail with the region switch on a far driver controller I mean dude you’re maxing it out beautifully. I’ll be buying a 72 1800 shortly But unfortunately it’s going to be paired with an under powered battery so I’ll be living with a slow battery for a while until I can get new cells and meet the same requirements of the 721800 to have its proper power and I’ll be getting a Daly 500 amp BMS. My question to you is can I safely run the fardriver 721800 and Daly BMS with my weak Samsung battery group (18650-32E cells)? I know that the BMS and as you show the control or both have massive amounts of adjustable settings so it seems that I will be able to dial everything down for the crappy battery and then when I get the new battery dial it up to where you are what do you think man good idea?

Thanks for the video. I was hoping the Fardriver controllers allowed you to control the amount of regen using a 0-5V signal like the throttle but seems like it’s just an on/off switch. Is there a setting for how strong the regen braking is? Is it dependant on speed so stronger when you’re going fast and weaker when you’re just manoeuvring slowly?

The end of his video had a selection in the settings about a potential for a variable regen I think.

I am researching potential controllers for a Sur-Ron and the Far Driver seems to be a potential. I've got a few questions that the chinese sellers don't seem to answer clearly; -One item on my checklist is variable regen braking (using a left hand thumb throttle). I saw "back throttle brake enabled" as a selection in the settings screen on your video. Do you know if that's for a variable regen? -Does the rated continuous amps seem to be a true rating? -Are phase amps adjustable in the settings? -Can a 3 speed switch be used for low, medium, high power?
@FlyHighforfun
@FlyHighforfun 2 жыл бұрын
Quick answer: Yes, to all of the above. Not sure about you connecting regen using a thumb throttle, you'll need dedicated channel to control a 2nd throttle. I'm not sure if the Fardriver has auxiliary channel mapping like the BAC8000.

They don’t have variable regen, just on and off, you can further adjust the regen power by increasing the maxcurr, and stopcurr value get the first 1.5 x more in ratio

Do these controllers support variable regen? IS that "Back Throttle Break enabled" option for a second throttle so you can have adjustable regenerative braking? How do you set regen braking phase amps?
@FlyHighforfun
@FlyHighforfun 2 жыл бұрын
Question #1: Yes, question #2: No, with having a second throttle. That setting turns on Regen breaking when the throttle is released. Yes, Regen is adjustable. Question #3: it's stop back current and max back current in the software. I hope that answers your questions!
@de-bodgery
@de-bodgery 2 жыл бұрын
@@FlyHighforfun Thank you for replying back. That's adjustable, but not variable. In the software, you can set the back current to some fixed amount and then every time you apply regen you get that amount of regen braking. This is not the same thing as variable regen braking. Variable requires a second throttle. AT zero throttle, you get no braking effect. As you apply more throttle, you get more braking. In controllers that support variable regen, they will have settings similar to yours, but they are the minimum and maximums the second throttle will apply when it is twisted. I was really hoping to have found a Chinese controller that supports variable regen!
@FlyHighforfun
@FlyHighforfun 2 жыл бұрын
No the Fardriver controller doesn't have variable regenitive breaking. You need a controller that has auxiliary channel in order to use a second throttle.

@@FlyHighforfun Yes...why I asked what I asked. I knew what is required since I use variable regen right now. I was hoping the FArdriver controllers supported this.

are you sure thats regen? Low brake would cut the power to the motor when connected and would be used when you pulled your brakes. Am I mistaken?
@FlyHighforfun
@FlyHighforfun 2 жыл бұрын
No you are correct. I will be making another video soon to go over the details showing exactly how to activate the Regen on the switch. #1 Brake low wire (black) wire from the controller has to be grounded to your DC to DC step down converter. #2 12v from your DC to DC goes to your switch, the other side of the switch then goes to the brake high (gray) wire. You will need to activate the software setting "EABS ENABLED" IN order for the switch to activate Regen when pressing the button. Make sure to set the amps "stop back current and max back current" but that's pretty much it! But I missed a few steps when I created this video. There will be a revision to this video posted soon. Thanks for calling that out! And if this helps you please like And subscribe!

Low brake and high brake can regen the same power, the only difference is high brake is used in conjunction with a brake light! Thus why you use 12v pos to activate. To increase regen power you are looking for the maxcurr and stopcurr values set the maxcurr at a ratio 1.5x more then stopcurr. I have 5 different FarDriver controllers and bug rhe heck out of the manufacturer
