So far this semester, we have heard from several presenters who have mentioned issues related to agriculture such as farmland access, food security, and adapting agriculture to climate change, all of which are important aspects of sustainability in New England. Tonight’s presenter will change head-first into the issues of food systems in New England.
Tonight’s presenter is from the Northeast Organic Farming Association. For over 40 years, The Northeast Farming Association has been working to support local farms, local agricultural markets, organic and sustainable farming and related causes through the northeast region.
Our presenter tonight is Hannah MacDonald. Hannah MacDonald has been working in food, forests, farming and education for more than 10 years by series of life events, ultimately finding true that nourishing and regenerating food and farming systems is core to moving forward as a species. She solidified these passions by obtaining an MS in Sustainability Science (Sustainable Food Systems) at UMass Amherst, and now works as the Education Events Manager at the Northeast Organic Farming Association, MA Chapter (NOFA/Mass). Hannah is excited to bring the intersectionality of food systems, from technical to spiritual, to the forefront of our practices.
