Fantastic lesson! I had less than a day to prepare for doing a song in a service in a reggae style. This video enabled me to produce an authentic reggae vibe and attracted many favourable comments! Thanks James 😊.

100% agree. You'll know when you're there. I'm an absolute beginner, but I have a weird natural knack for reggae, which is peculiar considering I'm as white as it gets, and come from a hard rock/metal background!

Not sure if you mentioned but typically flatwound strings are preferred in reggae, I've jammed with many reggae and dub reggae bands and flatwounds do the trick..or dead round wounds work to. But string choice is essential.

@ 6;34 you state the drum accent is on the 2 and four,,,,NOT correct,,,,3 little birds is a 'ond drop' ride,,,one drop accents is on either the 1 or 3, in 3 Little Birds the accent is on the 3,,,,,if u are gonna attempt to teach reggae pls do a bit of research and do it correctly, having said that 1/love

DOCTAH X dude, I did my research on this. I think you a feeling the pulse twice as fast so the kick drum would fall on beat 3. I feel this as half time so the kick falls on 2 & 4. There is a debate on how this should be felt because the guy who makes me the tracks feels it double time. In my opinion neither is right or wrong. I think I might have even mentioned that in the films...
