One thing people do not mention about Jokic is the volume. Both as availability throughout the season and just the amount of possessions where he creates something for the team. There are other great skilled players doing otherworldly things. But Jokic can do it almost effortlessly sometimes without spending much energy which allows him to just control more possessions from a stamina stand point. Luka is great for example but you watch Luka and Jokic play and Luka has to spend a lot more energy on average to create something. I never seen someone consistently like Jokic just get an entry pass and without taking a dribble just fakes out or jedi mind tricking the defense and creates a great shot for a moving teammate without actually doing anything.

I listened to some Serbian sports guys talk about that last year and they were saying that the only way Jok would coach in NBA when he retires would be Coach Dejan leaves GS to be assistant and takes over as coach of Nuggets when Malone and Jokić retire. Jokić would be willing to be assistant to Deki, his pro coach from Serbia who Jokić idolized when he was a kid and with whom he was a great friend. Coach Deki unfortunately died last year in GS.

what's crazy about Jokic is how amazing he is on D. He's top 10 in stls/blks. top 3 in deflections. the 3 big advanced analytics have him top 15 for defense. and stat muse just released today an updated ranking that has him the 22nd best defensive player. one spot above Tatum.
@sdoggАй бұрын
people have shit on his defence for years, but he has always been elite at deflecting and affecting passes and getting steals
@Sean.CordesАй бұрын
He's legitimately good to great at 90% of defense. He's not good at being a vertical athlete protecting the rim by blocking a lot of shots [duh], and he's not great in space [although he's not near as bad there as people think - he actually holds up fine on brief switches at times and moves his feet well for a guy his size, and key point: he plays up at the level of the screen very, very often, especially against great shooters - that requires good mobility]. People see the lowlights of him just letting guys at the rim get a bucket but he's still good at making guys pick up their dribble and take floaters instead of layups, and he doesnt try to block layups because he knows he doesnt have the vertical athletic ability to get them, and he knows he cant get in foul trouble, so there's really no point. If a guy is taking a layup it's too late already for him to do anything about it.
@goldmo2427Ай бұрын
His issue is if he was more athletic jumping wise and movement with his feet he probably would be a good interior defender .. that’s basically his one flaw and it’s huge for a big man but he makes up with it in other ways and he shown he can defend guys 1v1 he just not good with certain matchs
@Sean.CordesАй бұрын
@@goldmo2427 and even if he's not good in certain matchups he's still probably the best offensive player of all time. Any defensive shortcomings are mostly irrelevant in that context and can be schemed around. He's still going to win his minutes much more often than not.

@vladaАй бұрын
KCP was always going to be replaced by Braun. 5th starter is always expendable. As for Murray, Sixers shouldn't have signed Embiid to extension too but not doing so always comes at a risk. Middleton was not worth the his contract but because they tried to please Iannis they kept him when every sign said no. When Deaaron Fox averages 10 assists in Finals series, we can talk. When Fox goes nuclear in two series like Murray did in 20-21, well circle back.
