He wins, simply for the fact that we are all debating the implied or intended message within his act. His niche is his genre variety and intelligent freestyles. I don't believe its a straight forward as the messages we think we find in his work. I'm sure some are correct, others; he's just taking us on a ride...and has no idea himself where it will end. And I know for sure he enjoys reading our comments, to see the different reactions and ideas we take from it all. I love this guy; he's extremely talented and has a way of just pulling you into a trance, then creating a vision for you, followed by brief moments of insanity and laughter. Its absolutely great! The accents, character portrayals and "1 man band" songs are incredible. Such a diverse range of art in every session. He's really good at "stream of consciousness" expression. Pulling from his own subconscious thoughts, yet making you feel like your own thoughts relate to them. He's got so much experience with letting himself go, and running with freestyle accidents...turning them into part of a complete, entertainment experience.

It's funny seeing some people trying to make sense of the words. It's not about the words at all (he is talking gibberish), it's about everything else you use to communicate: pitch ( or musical notes if you want to think about it that way), rythm, gestures,dynamics, etc... I think the whole point is to play with the idea that words are only a small part of communication and contrasting how an incredibly articulate and expressive guy talking nonsense can still sound deep and be enjoyable to listen to. Plus, the guy is a musical genius, even though you can't tell by this perfomance.
@SineN0mine3
@SineN0mine3 9 жыл бұрын
sixStringsforWords I think it comes full circle here. The way that his act can be interpreted in so many ways it is itself a message about interpretation and perspective. He touches on a lot of topics (eg, "nothingness", language barriers, time, human behaviour) in his act, and i suppose the way you interpret his message (essentially gibberish) is a reflection of your perspective on those topics.
@sixStringsforWords
@sixStringsforWords 9 жыл бұрын
It's not that his sentences don't make sense at times, if you isolate them, but I was referring to how the speech as a whole is completely disjointed and really doesn't have a "point". It's a bunch of random toughts put together (of which some make sense). But I agree with you that the deeper meaning of the presentation can be interpreted in many ways and that fact by itself makes it interesting.

His revealing tune on Red Rectangles was a fascinating insight into how this world with 4 metaphorical corners encapsulates many years of archetypical emotional Anger (Red) resulting in human life entropying or degrading back to vegetable then mineral metaphorically described by the pants coming down, where life should be projecting back to the divine construct it was intended. i.e. ideally Solve et coagula, not coagula et Solve.

This has been the most enlightening Ted Talk I have ever seen. The man. The one on stage. He talks about concepts that imprison us. These constructs they keep us from being free. The structure we are apart of is limiting us. Really the conceptual freedom which is being shown is truly freeing. If expansion of the mind is a thing, that exists, then we can experience it. So really the perception of it all, is there.

giving it my best is only a feeble attempt to wrap my head around not only the process of his presentation, but to put it all together to where it makes sense is stacking all the blocks in all the wrong places in a Tetris game, yet he somehow reaches into my brain and helps me place the blocks of logic, reason, and an overall sence of exactly what the he'll he's talking about, calling him a genius at this point in he's twisted plot would be an insult, he takes a jigsaw puzzle and empties it out onto the floor and is convincing enough to manipulate our minds to say it's solved!!

+BoboDoboRobo There's nothing wrong with the crowd, we just can't hear them because it is not a "typical" audio set up where you can hear every audience reaction. If you turn it up really loud though you can hear a bit of their reaction coming through Reggie's microphone.
