I really brings me joy that Conan's bad stand up voice is just a Dennis Miller impression

I also love Dana Carvey’s Dennis Miller impression. On his podcast with David Spade he slips into it often, such a great weird rhythm to mimic.

I’ve wondered why people who love Norm Macdonald also loved Dennis Miller even though Norm said when he was interviewed by Larry King: “Always play the dumb guy, no one likes a comedian who’s smarter than them.” And Dennis Miller’s whole act was just showcasing his expansive vocabulary and obscure references. Then I just realized that their political opinions just mirrored his so they automatically praise him.

@@guitarmatricide4834 In the 90s, Dennis, Norm, and another late comedian named Drake Sather had an influence feedback loop on one another. Norm and Drake wrote for Dennis on his short-lived talk show. If you watch clips of the three of them back then, you can see the similarities. Drake was a combo of Norm and Dennis, Norm was a combo of Dennis and Drake, you get the idea. Dennis said that Norm and Drake's office was the two of them chain smoking in the dark coming up with the most acerbic and usually unsuitable for broadcast tv jokes, but he loved them.

saw Reggie in a brewery in Harrisburg pa... it was a suicidal night for me. Reggie changed that, turned my frown upside down just about forever and his genius of ridiculousness is why i am typing this today. Comedy cures depression. Hard to cry when you're laughin, unless you're cryin from laughin... thanks Conan, Reggie, crew.

I knew Reggie back when he was going to Cornish, we went to the same parties, knew the same people, chatted sometimes but he'd never remember me. This was in 95-97. Even back then he was the coolest, nicest guy ever. Everyone knew he was going to go places. He got along with everyone, could work with anyone, could get people together for new projects. Very happy for him!

Back in the day there was this Band from Seattle called Maktub with Reggie on Lead Vocals. Tremendously Powerful Stuff!!! There was a rule in Seattle, that you weren’t considered a musician in town if you didn’t play in a band with Reggie at least once. Then Conan, Kwanza Juice!!! Then TedTalks and now the historical figure you see before you! Anybody who had to deal with James Corden for that many years is a Rockstar in my book!

I saw Reggie open for Conan's Tour in San Diego in 2010. I was in about the 5th or 6th row, yet when I first saw him and not gonna lie, because I have blurry vision, I thought he was Dave Grohl in comedically large clothing. Since he was doing improv songs on the spot, I didn't know what to take seriously and what not to. I even thought the fro and beard were fake!

Saw Reggie open for Conan on the Legally Prohibited tour. That was a wild night- one of the best shows I've every seen. "What else ya got?" is right- they had Triumph, they had the Chuck Norris lever, they had the masturbating bear- the latter two were repackaged/rebranded to avoid litigation. I think it was a self pleasuring panda- I forgot the Chuck Norris rebrand.

Podcasts are boring! What happened to Conan making a new travel show? "Conan Without Borders" was by far the best work Conan has ever done and he should concentrate on that... Without Borders was not only brilliant entertainment and hilarious, but educational and somewhat beneficial for humanity in bringing folk around the world that little more together. These self-congratulatory, vapid podcast interviews do nothing of any good for anyone and are dull and self-indulgent...
@PigDan
@PigDan 7 ай бұрын
The strikes happened, which halted production of the show for months. Also I agree somewhat, a lot of the interviews (to be frank here) are sorta just Conan boosting his guests' egos without much in the way of interesting or unique commentary, and then giving us a bunch of ads sprinkled throughout (or entire episodes that are ads). He also brings himself up into every topic which I'm noticing more and more on this podcast -- it would be better if he let people speak more often, because otherwise we'll start to question why they're even there, lol (the same common criticism goes for Dana Carvey & David Spade's podcast, although sometimes the episodes are better). There are several highlights of the cast though over the year and episodes I genuinely really liked, while other ones are kinda forgettable. I feel like when it's possible, not just having a podcast but having an accompanying show would be significantly more enjoyable at this point!
@PigDan
@PigDan 7 ай бұрын
I think some Conan fans must wonder how much of that long-time comedic bit of his personality being exaggeratedly egoistical and self-absorbed is really just a real showbiz side of himself something he can't even shake off sometimes for the sake of a fair interview, lol.. of course, he's really kind and thoughtful simultaneously when he's being sincere and depending on the context. I guess he assumes we come here for him, and only him, on his network, with his name as the title.. although I'm sure many fans would say they prefer it when everyone gets to chip into the convo and the guest gets to speak more often, and that's one reason why their interviews are better when Sona and Matt really have the opportunity to make some good contributions to the show, and not just be contributing laughter.
