We look at the grail comics, “hidden gems” that might in a long box at the local comic shop and must-haves for any comic fan’s collection. We also tap into the larger knowledge base of the comic book community during frequent live streams were we interview collectors that have been in the hobby for a few months to a few decades.
There are very few places on the internet (or elsewhere) where tons of quality comic book information is gathered in one place.

So I have a question. With all of the Fomo, variant gimick covers of new books (e.g. Thundercats by Dynamite). Do you think the industry is headed for another 90's market crash?

Reggie, thank you so much for doing these awesome videos. You are very well spoken and always seem to stay focused on the topics and I am always recommending people your way. I wanted to bring up a topic no one seems to be talking about in the "Collecting Community". When I say collecting community I mean anything that can be collected. I have really been watching the "markets" for a few years now.. Not only do I collect Comics but I also collect Gold & Silver along with sports cards. From a "Value" standpoint comics are out performing Gold & Silver when it comes to return on investment. I give away Gold & Silver on my KZbin channel before comics even though I give away comics also. I would truly like to see you do a video on what kind of investment return folks are getting on the more popular comics. Now you mentions not to buy these comics and why in your video. What of we already have them, would you recommend at this time having those books graded? Once again, You Rock!!!

Thanks for the kind words. I feel like it’s easy to calculate return on gold/silver given spot price data but more complex to do it with comics. You have to deal with raw versus graded as well as the various grades of the book. Our pricing data is also very wonky. I struggle with being able to do a video like this in a compelling way that will resonate with people. As for your second question around what to grade versus not, I release a video monthly highlighting books that people should think about grading if they have them. One was released on Monday. If you search KZbin for “Regie Collects grade” you will find the series. You’ll also pull up videos where I highlight books that folks should stop grading. If you flip the logic in these videos, it’s basically a road map for the things that people should consider before grading any book-market conditions, movies, etc.

No one is talking about the condition of these books and how the spine is messed up. I got 2 copies of ultimate black panther and the spine is not good because the paper quality marvel is using to print these comics

Midtown only let you order 1 of each the day they came out at cover price along with UBP ....now they have copies for 20-30 apiece

I was able to walk in my LCS and get both for cover price. A few variants too. Can’t do now but for the first few days we’re good. I love me some Peach Momoko but I wasn’t sure about getting the UXM, but I may reconsider. FOMO got me😂

If you can afford to buy a couple of issues for a book, it's worth it. If it blows up, great, if not, then oh well, you only paid cover price.

Reggie! I respect your and value your opinion…do I trust CGC and go out buying slabs again? I only have a few as I’m a raw guy(I like to read what I buy) I started buying slab’s literally 6 months ago and then the scandals starting happening…. Are you still grabbin slabs? Do you trust or prefer CGC’s competitors now?..

It’s not about trust for me. It’s about being smart with my money. I buy when others aren’t. I have not stopped buying graded books. I am taking advantage of the economy and all the fear to get solid deals on great books. At the end of the day, you’ll need to decide what makes sense for you.

The final order cutoff past for Ultimate X-Mem #1 . So if you did not pre-order you might want to hit your LCS early on the release day.

That $20 UK shipping cost is what it would be to ship to YOUR address in the USA, not theirs. The person who bought that most likely lives in the UK.

As of August black panther 1 cover a is still going for about 30 bucks and Spiderman 1 cover a is going for about 80-100 bucks (both raw) I like the ultimate spiderman series so far it’s good 👍

There's no way these books hold value. It's ALL nonsensical hype. People think they're hot.. so the price gets inflated based on purchases.. but I'm reality, there's no scarcity, or value. 100% these books crash.

I got 2 for preorder price and I'm sending both of them to cgc. If I can turn $6 into $500(before fees), then I have a hard time not doing it. I will circle around later on for a raw copy for my personal collection. I had the chance to preorder the black costume variant and I went back and forth on it, but ultimately whiffed, off.

Thanks for the video and perspective. The new books are going to be a trap for so many that chase. Dollar book find sooner than later. Readers are looking for something relating to a “good story” at this point. That’s all this is though. Just my view.

Crazy how much people are buying these comics for. I can go to my comic book store and pick a few up. That just tells you not every shop gets all the variants

If you didn't get your pre-order in for these books, I really doubt you're going to get any of these for cover price (even it's just been out a week).

I know folks that snagged the books for cover price due to comic shop policy and inventory. Not every shop pulls the books down from the shelf to load to eBay. It helps to have a relationship with shops in the local area.

You can get it, but probably not online, but you never know. Best chance is at an actual physical shop. Maybe not the same amount of hype, but I remember several days after BP3(1st Tosin) I snagged two copies for cover price plus shipping from a website. It's always worth looking at least.

That’s just bad advice bro. Do you know how many folks I’ve spoken with that make emotional decisions and over spend. I know guys getting divorced over comics. Guys in major credit card debt because they didn’t think before spending. Just bad advice.

@RegieCollects that's what makes the world go round. Notice I said "if you can afford it." People buy every item emotionally. Houses, cars, clothes, and so on. It's all to appear a certain way. Look at you. You spent money on some 100k collection. You put nice expensive slabs behind you. How can you tell someone you wouldn't buy a $60 or even $20 book. Which wouldn't hurt someone financially as much as a $500 or 2k book? I'm sure you're not selling 40% off Ebay prices and telling someone not to buy your book. "No, don't buy that book over there. Come and buy my book over here. "

We have seen comics consistently spike and drop in value so why in the world would I encourage people to be irresponsible when waiting a few weeks could save them money?? @RegieCollects because it's a $20 or $60 book. No one is getting a divorce over low-priced books. Divorces happen over youtubers pumping their golden age and silver age books. Creating FOMO on a 2k or 3k book that drops to $1,200 or more. That's where divorces happen. When you're losing a grand or more. If Ultimate Spiderman drops to $40, and they spend $60. That's alright. It may go back up to $100 one day. It may not. Who knows. But it's only $60. No one's getting a divorce over that.
