This has to be one of the best renditions of Canarios on the baroque guitar.

there is one metal-overwound string, on the D pair in the fourth course - that's the one you see most clearly in the video because it catches the light now and then. the bright ring is the result of the construction :D

Beautiful rendition on a beautiful instrument. There is a couple called the "Luteduo" who play a lovely arrangement for Baroque guitar and Theorbo to found on KZbin as well. The comments here really tickle me. I see no reason to choose sides - there is no side to choose. Every instrument has a place and so does every musician and every genre. There's no sense trying to compare them or in insisting one is better than the other. You'd be surprised at how many of these musicians play multiple genres and on multiple instruments. They all have their place, their beauty, and all require a lot of skill and a lot of hours spent trying to master them.

What a heavenly beautiful sound, and style of playing!! She's superb!! The guitar has 10 wooden pegs, can anyone tell me, is it 5 pairs of strings or 10 separate strings? Where can I buy such a guitar, and how much does it costs?
@andreafalconiero90897 жыл бұрын
Yes, 5 pairs of strings (normally). With baroque guitars and lutes there are usually two (or even three!) strings grouped together in what is called a "course", where the strings in each course are tuned either the same or an octave apart. Therefore, when describing these instruments it is usual to say ex: a "7 course" lute, rather than counting the strings. I think baroque guitars are always set up in 5 courses, though often the highest course will be single-strung, so there may be a total of 9 strings on the instrument rather than 10.

that was some great talent on a great sounding instrument.. its unfortunate that todays "guitar players" cant even comprehend the idea of playing a guitar without metal strings and picks.. classical guitarists easily dominate them.. so much so im actually planning to sell my electric guitar gear and start learning proper technique on classical guitars

I play electric but always find time to practice classical style, especially finger picking on an old acoustic. It's easy to serve the two masters and I find it massively improves my electric 'satriani' style playing. Good times. :)

Any reason to make music is a good reason. There is no quality-standard. Now, I'm not a huge fan of the classical sound. How am I supposed to like playing something I don't like listening to? Just because you think it's superior doesn't actually mean it is. :P
@justadude64110 жыл бұрын
Ja Kooistra It is superior! Eletric instruments are a lot easier to play than acoustic instruments. You can't even compare the technical difficulties. Besides that, you don't like listening to "classical music", because you did not have a proper musical education. If you had, you would play and listen to any kind of music and would not even dare to write this comment...
