Regina King is a queen. She's going to be legendary with the number of Emmy wins she has, and with her Oscar, she's halfway to EGOT status. Andra is wonderful, but she isn't far enough into her career to be considered a queen yet. Give her time. She's young, but her historic win is a step in that direction.

@Cagedbirdfree I'm glad you said this. I remember a magazine interview in the early 2000's where Gabrielle talked about how she was raped when she was working at a Payless store when she was I think 18. It's been a journey for her, as for a lot is us. The social media attacks need to stop between us women. We should never expect her to be and do something because we say so. I appreciate your comment.

Day lived up to that role. Like Paul Winfield embodied MLK Jr., Denzel - Malcolm, and Cicely - Harriet Tubman. Day absolutly embodied Holiday. Even Diana Ross must be proud of both Day and Daniels. They did not infringe on her "Lady Sings the Blues" (feat Richard Pryor) storyline and Day paid so much homage by giving a great performance, like just like Ross did for my generation. We are all so very proud of you Day. You made me feel everything with your performance. Holiday was my grandmother's favorite artist (besides every gospel artist...lol) and you brought her back to life for my grandchildren. God Bless You, Always! Praying you and the Queen, King work together very soon. I love you both. And for those of you who don't know about Billie Holiday, just know she was the MJ Blige of of the 30s and beyond. Her music was a reflection of her life and she made you know that you were not the only one. For me, Blige carried out the legacy of Holiday, because she got us to a healing point. Holiday died around 44 and was plagued by hurt and pain and never got to heal.

It's an amazing coincidence that Andra Day sang a song written by the rapper/civil rights activist Common for the film 'Marshall', in which the leading actor in that film was Chadwick Boseman (not to mention that the song was nominated for an Oscar for best song). And of course both Andra and Chadwick won the awards for their leading roles in Drama. I wish them the very best of luck and hope that they are both nominated for the Academy Awards this year.
