This song reminds me of my best friend who died in 2016. I absolutely loved her and she was like my sister from another mother, if you will. We helped each other during so many hard times. Once I was at home and she called me panicking, because the breaks on her dads car had been cut and they completely lost control of the car. The last words I heard from her was "I'll see you soon" before she and her dad died in the crash. I've never cried so hard in my life, and 5 years later I don't think I'll ever be able to forget that moment. I miss you a lot leila.

It's incredible how many meanings this song can have. Friendships, relationships, depression... I like to think that the birds are every single one of us, looking back in the past. We tend to look back at what we have lost and at the mistakes we made, instead of looking forward, thus failing to notice the opportunities moving away from us. We tell ourselves we won't think about it anymore, we'll keep going, but we always end up in the deep thought, thinking what better we could have done. So while a part of us wants to move on, there will always be this one part of us that is static, inert. "There's nothing I won't understand." I believe this to be our hindsight and the previous line to be our desperate willingness and desire to change our past. "I won't let go of your hand." yet again, the aforementioned desperate desire to stop the unstoppable wave of bad conscience. I'll be a better partner, just please come back to me. I'll be a better friend, so please don't leave me. I'll be a better person, so please just make everything good again. The meaning of the song may or may not be negative(it really depends on the point of view), but the song is beautiful anyway.

The wire represents danger, somewhere you shouldn’t be because you’ll get shocked. I think its supposed to be depression, addiction, sickness, whatever you want. These two birds became close after being on the wire, one decides he was able to leave. But obviously the other one can’t move on, no matter how he tries. He’s tired, he’s comfortable there. And the other bird, despite wanting to leave, feels a necessity to stay with their friend despite them being ready to move on. Its actually quite sad because now neither of the birds can move on from this dangerous spot. You also have to realize the more they’re both on the wire together, the more it weighs down. Maybe its more bittersweet than anything. Btw it can be interpreted however you want, at its core its about one person who’s ready to move on with life and one person who’s too scared to leave the comfort of their status quo, even if its not good for them.

I noticed that this song slowly progresses into a more depressive and intense tone, and all I can say is that I feel like it matches the recent events in my life perfectly. My father had passed away recently and he was my rock, everything to me. A father that helped me emotionally due to past events that took place in my life. He got esphogal cancer and pasted shortly after being diagnosed with it. When it says "one says cmon" I see that as me telling him to keep going and then when it says "the other says im tired" I see that as my father being really off due to so much medication and the pain he was in. To anyone in the future who ever finds this comment: There was a girl I fell in love with. Loved her more than anything. She was my first true love and I was certain that she was the one I wanted for the rest of my life. While I was ready to leave behind my past and let her be a part of my life, and myself a part of hers, I slowly realized she was the “bird on the wire,” and was too afraid to take the jump out of her comfort zone. This reminds me of my cousin and I, we used to always talk and were practically inseparable. But over the years we both became more recluse. My cousin more so, I asked her how she was and she didn’t say anything. Its almost like she’s looking towards her mum (my aunt) to speak for her. She’s so quiet it’s ridiculous. We spoke about moving away and how I’d move in with her and her husband, I’d help with her kids. We made it all up and practically guaranteed it. But I don’t want that life anymore. We always played together, always spoke together. I just miss how it used to be. My aunt (cousins mum) is now a religious freak and read a bible at my birthday. This song never fails to make me cry since it reminds me of one of my aunts. Everytime I saw her she always had a smile for me, she even treated me like I was her grandchild alongside with my cousin. Last time I saw her was in my first communion, with almost 9 years old. Even though I had fun with some of my friends and cousins, I also spent time talking to my uncles and aunts, specially her. In like a year, almost two, she got really sick to the point that when we went to visit her to the hospital, my mom told me she was very ill. In like a week or so, the doctors told us that she got better and that they were gonna send her back to the hospital in my city. By the night, the doctors told my godmother (my aunt's daughter) that she suffered an infection in one of her lungs. When my mom told me that, I propose myself to pray for her and wish that she was well and that I could visit her. But by the morning, my nervous little self arrived to my parents bedroom and found my mother with tears in her eyes, and told me that my aunt was dead. I simply said "Oh" and turn around quickly and went to my room. I spent all morning crying. After that I felt a bit numb because everytime my family mentioned her, my cousin would be always crying, but not me and I didn't understand it until now. I miss her so much everyday and every time I hear this song it reminds me of when I was that bird trying to fly away and telling her all the amazing things that happened to me and now I'm stucked to that wire of memories of her. I really miss you auntie 🕊

I see this song as someone holding someone else back. Like, the bird that wants to fly, loves and believes the bird that never leaves the wire. The bird that wants to fly has dreams and aspirations, and wants to do and see them all with the bird on the wire. But the bird on the wire never actually goes with the bird that wants to fly. They say they will, and waste the other birds time when they know they never will. But sometimes, even if you really love someone, you have to move on. Because that person on the wire will never love you enough to support you or do things with you. They just hold you back. Sometimes it's better to move on, after all. Even if it really hurts, its better for you in the long run.

At least, this is just my take on it from personal experience with someone I still love. You don't ever really stop loving people, even if you move on. It's even more sad when you don't understand why the person doesn't even try. It's almost like they never loved you at all, but if they didn't, why'd they stick around so long?

This has a different meaning for me. It's the feeling you want to move on or "fly away," but your other half chooses to "stay." It's the feeling of being left out of a group and thinking it's best you should move on. But your friends and those whom you rely on are there. It's your only form of support, but it hurts staying on it just like a wire.

I was listening to this song while washing the dishes when i found out my grandpa died. It was just a few hours ago and I still haven't fully processed it yet. I probably will never be able to listen to this the same way again, it'll probably hurt more, but at the same time, with this lyrics I think it would allow me to heal as well. I already miss you so much grandpa. It hasn't even been that long, it's been 11 hours and I haven't slept but it hurts. It's like as if he really did let go of that wire but I can't blame him for it since it's lung cancer amongst other things. Seeing him in tubes and literally have both hands tied to the bed cause he kept trying to pull it out was painful. Maybe letting go of that wire was just his way of finding peace. I hope he's somewhere without pain anymore. Rest well, we love you so much.

this song hits hard. i cant get over my past, everybodys growing up and moving on,, but i just cant. ive tried moving on but im just stuck in an endless loop of trying to recreate my past :/ the person i was in love with (and still am), cut almost everyone off completely, he just left everything behind. i have so many unanswered questions, i just want closure. and i feel like thats part of the reason i cant get over my past, because i was left in the dark. i just want him to tell me why he left. i want to understand. i want to know why he left me so suddonly. i didnt know how important he was to me and how much i loved him until he was gone. i wish i couldve appreciated him more than i did, i wish i couldve helped him. i dont see him anymore.. but i only have one of his social medias,, hes moved on and grown up.. it hurts. i havent spoken to him for two years. damn. i forgot about this comment,, i finally got one last conversation with him. i got the closure i so desperately needed. i can finally come to terms with what happened. i’m so grateful i really am, but it’s bittersweet because now i know it’s really over :/ i don’t know, i’m slowly moving on but he will forever have a special place in my heart. he was my first love. september 17th 2022 update,, im finally moving on man three fucking years since i first fell for him and im finally moving on. i dont think of him everyday anymore man, i only sometimes get deep in my feelings about him like i currently am lmfao. first time in a couple months ive really missed him like this. god it hurts man, theres something about your first love that you just dont get over. something about your first love just hits different. nobody has been able to make me feel the way he once did. nothing will ever recreate the feelings i felt for him. we never even dated. i hate the fact im moving on. i hate the fact my feelings for him are slowly disappearing. i hate the fact i can think about him without feeling that stabbing pain in my heart. hes the only human being who made me feel that way and always will be, i dont wanna stop feeling man i dont care if its negative hes the only person who can truly make me feel something at all, just the thought of him. i dont feel shit anymore, my meds have stopped working, my emotions are so fucking dull. i dont care or feel empathy for anybody besides him. i hate myself man, i hate myself for not reaching out when he left. i honestly hate talking about what im about to talk about but i just needa get it off my chest, i hate myself for it. two years after he disappeared, my friend had a chat with his bestfriend about why he left. he blocked us all and vanished out of impulse because of a breakdown, but after a few days of nobody reaching out or asking where he went, he started realizing that nobody actually cared. nobody gave enough of a shit to even try and make contact. i feel so guilty. i was too selfish and angry because i felt so betrayed by him just leaving me like that, that the thought that maybe soemthing was wrong didnt even cross my fucking mind. i feel like a piece of shit, i shouldve known. had i reached out, i mightve still had him. i lost the one thing in this world that brought me true happiness and light to my life. everything has felt so dull since hes been gone. i thought closure would make me get over him, but you guys were right. nothings changed, i just have a better understanding. i only want whats best for that boy, and i know that i am not at all whats best for him. reaching out would probably hurt him more. i wish him the best, and i hope he finds a wonderful partner to spend the rest of his life with, i hope he finds somebody that brings him the same happiness that he gave me. i hope he finds somebody that makes him feel the way he made me feel. he deserves it. i know hes obviously not reading this but i feel the need to thank him. thank you for this lesson youve taught me. thank you for coming into my life. thank you for everything man :)) im sobbing now , man im a fucking wreck. my little essay about him really doesnt describe the feelings i had for him, its impossible to put into words. such a deep love, a deep love i didnt understand at the time, i didnt understand that i was in love until an entire two years later, it took me two years to realize that i was inlove with him. it took three years of maturity to realize how he mustve felt, i understand now. i understand now that ive been through the same things as him. i have an endless amount of empathy for him, and i am a very cold unempathetic human being (as corny as that sounds, im dead serious). hes the only human being that can evoke such strong emotions from me, sorry for making this about me at the end. this shit stung to write, sorry for the vent lmao.
