Finally. After all these years, finally. I accidentally deleted all the songs from my iPod in 2008 and have been trying to remember this song ever since. All I could remember was uh, uh, uh uh. Which wasn't helpful in searching. Mentioned it to my fiancee tonight and sung that part to him and he immediately gave me her name. So good to finally know the song, and add it to my cell.

It was 2004. 23 years old me working at a car dealer. used to do 12 hour days, came home late one day, and sat down alone to eat my dinner and switched to VH1 or something and this video started playing. I was blown away as this was not the typical type of sound they played. I remember frantically running around to find a pen to write down the song and artist. went out the next day to buy the album, She was so fresh they didn't even have it in yet and had to order me a copy in. I cannot describe in words how much this song means to me but I’ll try. I listened to this song every night before bed when I was small, up till I was around 10-11 years old. I would beg to watch the music video (though I didn’t know it was called fidelity until a year ago - I just referred to it as Regina) Now, as I’m getting close to 15 years old, I still listen to this song whenever I have trouble falling asleep. I age regress as a coping mechanism, and this song makes me feel immensely safe while in little space. The odds of this being seen are very small, and it will likely get lost within the hundreds if not thousands of other comments thanking you, but I still feel the need to express how much you’ve done for me without even knowing. Rebecca, darling, why don't you do a reaction video on one of Regina's many fine songs, such as those on her "Live in London" album, a superlative live performance, e.g, "On the Radio", "Hotel Song", "Us", "Fidelity", "Eet", etc. Regina is actually not that well known outside of Narnia aficionados ("The Call"), and using your large KZbin viewership to share her outstanding talents (what a voice!!) would be a welcome addition to your many great reviews. People compare her to Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, and even Joni Mitchell, but she stands solidly on her own, any influences notwithstanding.

It’s been over a decade and I still haven’t grown tired of the artistry in this song and video. Most of it is in a room that is just black and white including the clothes of Regina and her significant other. This symbolizes her unwillingness to open up and let herself be vulnerable. But when she lets her locket (her heart) smash to the ground (open up, be vulnerable) there’s an outpouring of color and beauty. She is actually able to truly see her lover who she most likely saw as yet another guy who will eventually break her heart, which is probably why he was invisible throughout most of the video. But she finally allows herself to relish in her own joy and love.

"I hear in my mind all all these voices. I hear in my mind all of these words. I hear in my mind all of this music, and it break my heart." I feel like I finally just understood this. She can practically recite what everyone says to her about love and how she needs to let people in, and she has heard from songs and movies what love is supposed to be like, but she still struggles to let go and let people in and it breaks her heart that she can't stop being so guarded. (You can gather some of that from the whole song, but those specific lines I didn't really get before.)

Damn I can’t believe it’s been 15 years since I heard this album the first time. Also the year I graduated HS. When I hear this song it transports me back to my first summer after graduation and driving my buddies around in my white ‘97 Camry, going to the skatepark every day, and just having fun and trying to figure out who I was and what the world was really like. Thanks Regina for the soundtrack to my youth.

I absolutely love this song. I remember it during the time when I used to be so in love with my ex-boyfriend, or at least, what I thought was love at the time. I'm so glad that even though I experienced a devestating break-up, I found and married someone who's absolutely incredible and loves me so much. This song still brings back good memories though. This song is an absolute treasure.

This entire album is so great, beginning to end. Not just sonically, but it's very lyrically cohesive. "Apres Moi" is a standout, and I love the darkness of "Hotel Song," the bittersweet nostalgia of "On the Radio," and of course this tune...for most of us, our first introduction to Ms. Spektor. 💋

I sang this song for my senior spotlight performance at school when I was 18. 6 years later, at 24, I realized I'm a lesbian. Now when I watch this video and look back on those 6 intervening years, I see the contrast between the forced relationships I once had with ideas of men who loved ideas of me, and my relationship with my partner now, which is so human and full of color. I wish I could go back and tell the girl that chose to sing this song that she would love somebody fully someday. Keep singing love songs everyone--you may find what you've been missing...

@Ben Turner I appreciate you saying that, to apologize takes courage. Some people get something from others' personal stories and some people don't, you're not obligated to, and I appreciate your recognition that one short sentimental little narrative doesn't tell you who I am, any more than your comments could tell us who you are. Stay safe yourself
