Hi Andy, thanks for this video. We just got the BLK360. I have some remote team members and they're asking me how to measure and walk thru the space (we are used to Matterport). If I send them the RCP file and supporting folder, will they be able to see the project in cloud viewer in Register360 to measure and view? Or is that only good for working in autocad? Any ideas are helpful. Thanks!

Hi Andy, thanks for this video. i am wondering if there is a way to work in sitemap mode for stairways. When we go to register more than 2-3 floors together, it becomes very confusing very quickly simply because the scans overlap in plan. I know within each of the visual alignment options, it has a side view, but I would like to see the overall from the side as well while working on the stairwells. Any thoughts?

Hey Andy, This has been the first time ive used any kind of 3d scanning equipment and I have found your videos incredibly informative and easy to watch. They have been a life saver, thanks so much! This is most likely as silly question. I have done 53 scans in the highest resolution and Im wondering what the most efficient and quickest possible process to transfer data from the Cyclone field software to register 360 and then from register 360 to a Google Workspace drive, in the correct format ready for collaboration with architects, who use REVIT. Any advice or vids i could possibly watch, would be much appreciated. Thanks again

Marc, I am not sure if you found the answer you are looking for but typically I like to export out of Register 360 as an e57 and import that file into Recap. From there you can send that recap file which can be imported into Revit.

Hey Andy, thanks for the videos. We do a lot of projects similar to the one you are demonstrating here (large, interior spaces with many rooms and halls). We frequently feel dismayed that more of the scans do not auto-register. In your experience, is this just a fact of life when it comes to these types of projects? We usually use pretty low resolution and quality since the content is pretty confined and to keep the scanning time down (150+ plus scans really add up). If you have time to reply, it would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to more videos!

Hey Michael, in my experience with these larger buildings (like schools or hospitals), I think the geometry is quite similar across the building, and auto-registration doesn't work very well. In these situations I like to manually register things together because I don't want the software to accidentally put a room in the wrong spot somewhere. If I do auto-register part of a building like this, I make sure to go back and meticulously check everything to make sure it's all correct.

I find that even if you have a clip of the building from any image software whether it's grabbing it from the locator built into register 360 or from Google Earth and then bringing a background image and scale it up that it works fairly well if you use smarter line and drag the scans where they were in the position on the building even if it's close and not exact it works much better to do smarter line if you pre-position the scans about where they were in the building. If you have a sketch of your setups as you go you can look off of that as you place them . You should separate by floors also create a site map for each floor and do the layout on each floor.

Hi Andy, I registered 1 bundle, and then I added some scans but it can not finalize because error as my project already exists. Should I complete scanning whole site and register once? Or do you have any recommend?

Great Tutorial! Quick Question, When you press “join and optimize”(the red button in visual alignment), does the leveling get optimized as well?

I don't believe so. I when you optimize two scans together in Visual Alignment, I believe the registration is made as accurate as possible in relation to each other. If you are working with BLK360 scans, the scans should already be leveled when they are imported into the software.

Thanks for the reply :) So levelling will not change in visual alignment mode, correct? How about registering with split view mode in reg360? Will the scan’s levelling get optimized?

Hey Hunam, Yes- when you go to publish the point cloud to E57 of PTX formats, you have the option to publish each cloud as a separate file.

It seems like in the new release of Register 360 the coordinate tool is no longer working. Have you seen this problem as well?

Hey Eric, I have heard about this issue. It sounds like a bug, but I haven't talked to the SW team about it. I'll touch base with them after the New Year to make sure they know about this and hopefully fix it for the next update.

I don't show it in this video, but when you click on 'Visual Alignment,' there is a 'Rotate Scan' button in the bottom left corner. This is what you can use to fix a tilted scan. ~Andy

@@AndyFontana How can I rotate the whole bundle to the correct horizon ? When the first scan is tilted the whole bundle is also tilted.
