Hi. Thank you for the video, very informative. I just have a question, where you have to choose a representative under the section "capacity" what do you choose if you have your own small business that you run by yourself with no employees? The options are treasurer, curator, liquidator, main partner, main trustee, public officer, main member ,parent/guardian, accounting officer. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm starting out and I know nothing about running a business. TIA

You file the tax returns on efiling. The annual returns that you need to file on CIPC are different

Are you a representative of the company? There should be an "i" that you can put your mouse over to see the reason you can't activate the tax type

This process assumes that the entity that you want to register as its registered representative has a tax number and a company number. A home owners association can be a voluntary association, formed at common law, and would not subject to the statutory requirements of a homeowners association that is registered as a NPC and which has then to be registed with the CIPC. The CIPC, as I understand it, issues a NPC with both a company and a tax number. How then than a voluntary HOA then register with SARS? How can I register as its registered representative?

Yes this process is for entities registered with CIPC. I am not familiar with the tax process for Voluntary associations so I would suggest a SARS appointment or a tax practitioner who can assist.

@@moneymatters_ntokozo I visited SARS this morning. They will let us have a tax number but, added to all of the many documents I already had available, they want certified copies of the ID’s of all of our members. Just as well there are only nine of us. So the process is delayed yet another month. The irony is that our HOA is so small, in numbers and in terms of levy income, that we will never be in a tax paying position. A waste of time for all concerned.
