Is it illegal to run a church in Nigeria without registering it?
No it is not illegal to start or run a church in Nigeria without registering it with the CAC, however it is best to register it because it comes with numerous benefits. These benefits will be discussed in a subsequent video.
Part of the requirements for registration of a church or mosque are:
A. A constitution for the church
B. Two national newspaper adverts
C. A trustees declaration by each trustee
Thus, yes a church can be formally registered with the CAC, as it is not only businesses that are registered. Secondly it takes about 6 weeks for the registration to be done. Thirdly it is usually more expensive and requires more documents than a business registration.
