Very nice printmaking workshop. I had not seen an etching press where pressure can be released similar to a litho press.

Fabulous video - your delivery and instructions are so clear and beautifully done. Thank you. I'm looking now forward to the second video as I've been experimenting with this combination of printing and found registration really difficult at the silkscreen stage.

17:19 But I have one question: How do you mount the lino on the mdf board? Glue? How can you remove whole parts of the lino afterwards if it sticks to the mdf board?
@colinblanchard2 жыл бұрын
Spray carpet glue; just enough to keep it firmly fixed and it one can still remove the necessary pieces. Sometimes does leave a bit of a sticky residue on the mdf, but I just dust that with talc or cornflour.

Colin, I love this, and all your other videos. One question - how do you manage to cut the space out of the main frame of mdf to fit the block into it EXACTLY? I tried it with a 3mm mdf and very sharp blade, but it is not a firm fit. Thanks

Thanks Peter! Well I don’t! I put this link in the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2jFdnWIqqaUaMU which shows how I do it.

wonderful video! what material are you using for your press blanket?
@colinblanchard3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anne. It’s just a piece of the felt table top protector; with the smooth plastic coating on one side.

Don't you risk cutting your blankets and marring your roller by going over the metal tabs?
@colinblanchard3 жыл бұрын
Not at all. The pins are quite shallow - even the .085s - and are made with a slightly rounded finish. They protrude only a very little above the combined height of the plastic tab and paper; and hardly make even an indentation on the packing or blanket. See part 2 where I even use them under a silk screen!
