John, I really like how you can pack a lot of information in a short video. Thanks for the information.

Thank you so much for all the information you share! I am doing another re-glazing tonight and each time I check this video to double check the firing schedule.

Thank-you for this post! It worked for me. I reglazed a vase that I had sprayed a little too thin on the top. I sprayed a layer let dry, then sprayed another layer. Dried, fired and it turned out way better. I will definitely try this technique again!

Thanks John! I have grown weary of the stock glazes at school and started experimenting with glaze recipes over the couple of semesters, and your guide to mid fire glazes has really helped to put a method to the madness.

This video is very good: I thouht it was impossible tot refire because the glaze will provide the pot to absorb more glaze (this is what my teacher told me). But WHY do all pottery-videoś end before the product is fired? It would provide even more information to record the result: now I keep wondering what you have made.

Question: when running a refiring schedule, is it ok if I place some pieces that would go to a regular glaze firing too, since it's all cone 6? Thanks a lot ✌️✨️

Really helpful video, John!! I also want to refire my dog head sculptor since the matt clear glaze was too thin. I fired it at cone8 with Skutt pre-ramp hold program in Mid-tempo. I want to fire it with other sculptors which have not been glaze firing. What firing schedule and speed will be nice for in this case? Is cone 7 medium tempo mode will be ok? It would be nice if you give me a piece of advice. Thank you so much, John!

Where do I find the glaze
@annelythgoe16168 жыл бұрын
Hi John, love your videos, I always make 100 or 20 as instructed, and wait to see you in the morning😊 HOWEVER! I tried your reglazing method and the glaze coat stuck to the skim layer fine, and then the glaze layer flaked off badly. I brushed on the glaze, so I am wondering if I have to dipped that glaze layer. Any suggestions? Thanks.
@johnbrittpottery8 жыл бұрын
Anne Lythgoe some glaze is low in Clay and has low dry strength..try adding bentonite. Otherwise it could be fluctuated and flake off. In that add deflocculant. Could be high clay/high shrinkage....Or try other Glazes.
@annelythgoe16168 жыл бұрын
John Britt thanks, John. Some other glazes stayed put just fine, so I suspect it was that particular glaze. Thanks for your help and prompt reply. Enjoy your book btw.

When you glaze a coffee cup, is that what gives it that shiny look??? I have a coffee cup that has one spot on the inside, that was not coated correctly, can I still drink from it??? How can I fix this, if I can not drink for this cup???
@johnbrittpottery6 жыл бұрын
Hard to say from this far away. Do you have a potter near you? You could take it to them and ask.
@lipstick3186 жыл бұрын
Yes, I understand hard to say, but I was a wondering if there was something that I could coat the inside of the cup with to make it safe... I was looking for a DIY fix epoxy or something different... something simple and safe to fix and later I could drink out of the cup with no problems... It is just a dimple... There should be potters near me someplace... I will take it to a potter for repair...
