For me appalled is an understatement, all the suffering, the loss, and the fact that it went on for thousands of years because one person couldn’t say no until it was too late.

@LrdHollow you'd be surprised. That's a thing that exists in real life, there do exist some types of women out there who have that effect on men to where the guy can never say no to her, even when knowing somethings wrong
@AGirlAndAGame5 күн бұрын
I think it's sad. Solas couldn't let go of her. More interesting that he's a Wisdom spirit, he knew better but kept putting it off till it was too late.
@pativi66435 күн бұрын
I think it's more complicated than that. While Solas warned Mythal about using the lyrium as the means to build the body was wrong, they made a terrible choice, a mistake. But noone could predict that it would wage a war - because noone understood exactly what they were doing. There is dialogue when picking other options, that says the Titans were swatting elves as annoying bugs they are, they were losing that war. The elves would be completely wiped out if they did not act. What they did was terrible, and monstrous, yet as Mythal says it was the only way to end the war. How the Evanuris took the power to ascend to godhood afterwards is disgusting. Reducing Solas' story to the fact as he is a man who can't say no to a woman is bizzare to me.
@funeral13955 күн бұрын
@pativi6643 exactly as I said. There do exist women who have that effect on men. Solas knew what they had to do to end their war with the titans was wrong, yet he still went along with it, knowing it was wrong, all cause because he couldn't say know to his mythal, since it seems they were together. And based on that logic, the elves started a war they couldn't win, whether intentional or not, and the end result was current state of the titans, the elves, and the Dwarven people all together

Between the revelations of those first elves being spirits and Titan's blood/lyrium used to make their bodies, there is a third revelation which is much more subtle. "But I have no desire to live as humans." That line alone gives so much implications that humanity is exceptionally ancient in this world. Old enough to predate (and be a known quantity) the spirits who became the first Elves, before the Evanuris-Titan war, and so on. Makes my theory brain itch wanting to know more.
@AGirlAndAGame5 күн бұрын
I have so many thoughts about that line. I'm gonna hold off till I can play again but it makes me think that Solas' intentions aren't only caused by him feeling guilty. It goes deeper

57:56 Qunari actually have strong gender roles, and you can see that mostly with Sten. If you play DAO as a woman, he thinks you must be a man, because only men can fight, and women have other roles. When you try to explain it to him, he just doesn't seem to be able to accept that you're a woman who fights. So they're pretty binary and strict in that sense. But they recognize the existence of trans people, as long as they're male or female... aka, as long as they can fit in those two boxes and do the roles their new gender dictates. So perhaps Taash's mom would be less critical if Taash just happened to be a trans man... but she doesn't accept so much that Taash does masculine things while living as a woman socially

Mythal is Andraste! She adopted the name Andraste, found love in the mountains and got her heart broken. I remember during the trials trying to get the sacred ashes when you had to match the stories to the statues of andraste's disciples that her closest disciple, her lover, betrayed her. After that she gathered the rest of her disciples some. Now why she was betrayed I can't remember what the trial said specifically, jealousy of somethin I think, but I thought it was odd that flemeth explains the power exchange in origin in her flemethy way, DA2 and 3. Morrigan also knows it too because she has all the memories.

Yea, that was alot of information especially from a newcomer like me that just recently played all 3 games for the 1st time😅😅😅 Morrigan is still Morrigan but just with Mythal's memories. Which makes sense when back in Inquisition once we 1st see Mythal, she told us that Morrigan was never at any real danger. A possession can't be forced on the host and can only provide said memories. Or something among those lines from Inquisition

Was SO entertaining seeing your reaction to the lore bomb drops. My jaw was completely in the dirt throughout the whole solas regret sequences. It REALLY changed my perspective on the elves and dwarves. You may disagree but the original elves were just living out of pure greed and unfortunately it was the titans and later on the dwarves that suffered for it. Elgernan was the first to inhabit a human body and then more followed. Because of the lyrium required the titans which were actually peaceful beings defended themselves from this which eventually led to a war. From the titans point of view, the elves were aliens and they were taking over their land, as well as their life source It’s even more devastating when you realise that the entire dwarven race has been completely robbed of a peaceful civilisation from the get go, if it weren’t for the elves then the blight wouldn’t have existed. That means that the deep roads would never have fallen and their empire would have spanned the entirety of thedas in peace. ALL of it stems from one single person. Elgernan and his lust and greed for power. ALSO JUSTICE FOR THE DWARVES 😢

It's so messed up because I always thought it was just the elves who had everything taken from them when it was the dwarves who were robbed first.

Qunari do have roles specific to gender (like when Cassandra is hitting Iron Bull with a stick and he says "this is why the Qun don't let women join the army") except for specific circumstances, like Taash being a firebreather would be made a warrior despite being born female. They have words for transgender etc and it seems maybe if you are, then you'd be treated as your chosen gender (transmen allowed to join army). Also gotta admire you still making frequent videos and uploads, editing, doing makeup nicely and everything while also caring for your young son!
@Blazingstoke5 күн бұрын
As I understand what Bull said in _Inquisition,_ the Qun has your career path defining your gender, rather than what's in your pants. So if the Tamassrans decide you'd be best suited as a soldier, then you're male, regardless of what you were assigned at birth. (This would also explain the conversation between Sten and a female Warden in _Origins,_ where he's confused AF how she could be both a warrior and a woman at the same time.)
@AGirlAndAGame4 күн бұрын
Ah okay! Yeah I couldn't remember but I knew they didn't treat gender like the other races. And thank you 😁
@LoriasGSКүн бұрын
@@Blazingstoke That's how I've always understood it as well. There's a line that Bull says when discussing gender issues with Cassandra "Under the Qun your role defines everything" why not your gender as well? Because of that I don't think it's the same as being Trans at least not the way we'd understand it like with Krem or Maevaris, it's still just one more part of the Qun controlling the lives of all it's people.
@LoriasGSКүн бұрын
I have a theory as to why Taash said you're allowed to leave the Qun because you're right to be confused by that, people are definitely not allowed to leave and Taash still uses the word "escaped" to describe it. I won't fully go into it because it's about the characterisation of Taash's mother Shathaan but I do think there is a reason which I'll come back to when we've spent more time with Shathaan.

Mythal was as power hungry as the other Evanuris, she just treated her slaves better than the others. Plus because of Solas friendship we mostly see her actions through his nostalgia colored eyes. Remember DAI, Solas mentioned Mythal only intervene on Falon'din's bloodbath when he started killing her worshippers. She was okay with the other Evanuris killing their people so long as they didn't invaded her territory.
@MarieCurtis925 күн бұрын
Agreed. Solas never (if I remember correctly) says Mythal is innocent, just that she's better than the others. It sounds like a pretty low bar to me, to be honest, but he still thinks she's the best of them. I'd argue, given everything we know now, that Solas is objectively the best of the old elven "gods". I mean, at least he feels bad about his mistakes and is trying to fix things.

Morrigan and Flemeth made peace with each other in Inquisition, that's why Morrigan took Mythal, because she knew her mother died (When Solas killed her) and also explain why Flemeth put something in the Crossroads, it was the part of her soul that now lies inside Morrigan. My only problem with this is what about the well of sorrows... it's supposed to bound you to Mythal... for me it seems like a retcon here. They should have put more decisions from past games... there are a lot of wasting potential. Like why bring Isabela and Dorian back but not as your advisors like (Leliana and Cullen did in Inquisition).

There you go, this is the big reveal. Normally, i play as a human rook, but it was interesting to see an elf rook react to all this information. This line of logic makes sense. As it was revealed, at the end of Inquisition, Solas killed Flymeth to absorb Methol's power, not the spirit itself. So when Flymeth died and the methol fragment was forced out its host, where would people think it would go? So Morrigan being the new host of Methol makes sense. Im really enjoying your playthrough, i like to give you some help with the end of this specific quest with a helpful tip, the end of this specific quest can end peacefully, as long as the right chocies are made. I dont want to ruin the outcome, i like to see how this goes

Not that you're doing this, but I think it's really tempting to blame Mythal for all of this, but he wasn't enslaved, he had the will to refuse. All of the gods, including Solas, started out as spirits but developed demon traits as they made choices that corrupted their purpose. So, I feel like Mythal and Solas share the blame for what they did (only Mythal has had a chance to understand and appreciate the new world, while Solas is stuck in his old patterns).
@AGirlAndAGame4 күн бұрын
We need to talk to her. There's still so much not known and yeah they're all a part of it. It makes me think back to Solas' personal quest in Inquisition how he said when you force a spirit to go against its nature, things get bad.
@RPGgems4 күн бұрын
@@AGirlAndAGame Yeah, that's a factor. It's interesting to think about how much the evanuris corrupted each other. I just think it's more complicated than "ah ha! It's Mythal who's to blame!" Which is what some people say when they've seen the regrets. And I think, if that were totally true, Solas wouldn't have any struggle with his actions at all, because he'd be just "following orders", there's clearly part of him that knows he's doing bad things in the memories, but he chooses not to rebel against Mythal in the same way he would the others.

Again, the way they chose to "reveal" the things people have predicted for the last decade, is why so many disapprove how they chose to do it. And I remember seeing a video where the guy asked: "Are the creation of the Wardens the results of the Elves or Titans? What is the purpose of The Wardens? Why must there be Wardens if Wardens are to suffer from the consequences of The Elves?" And with everything with Morrigan, many disapprove how she acts/is in this game and also hate that we technically don't know if Keiran exists or no
