It is their profession. If the audience can't understand what the person is singing, then it is pointless to go on the stage. The melody line isn't only the vowels but the consonants have to be heard as well for it to make sense. One well known piece called, Una furtiva lagrima, would sound like: u-a-u-i-a-a-i-a if the consonants were taken away.

Hallo Thomas, Antwort zu Satz 1: NEIN! - zu Satz 2: Absolute Zustimmung meinerseits, zu Satz 3: Auch ich neige mein Haupt ehrfürchtig vor Regula, vor ihrer göttlichen Stimme, ihrer natürlichen Ausstrahlung, ihrem Charme. (Den hat man oder auch nicht. Erlernen lassen sich weder Charme noch natürliche Ausstrahlung. Beides ist angeboren.) Wir können uns glücklich schätzen, sie zu erleben. So betrachtet leben wir in der richtigen Zeit. Heute fand ich eine Aufnahme, die noch nicht alt ist, und zu der auch bisher niemand einen Kommentar schrieb. Als ich die Aufnahme hörte, da sagte ich mir nur: Das ist nicht unsere Regula. Mehr möchte ich dazu in diesem Forum nicht äußern. Besten Gruß, Eckard

Both of us are no longer the youngest, but we are lucky enough to live at a time when we enjoy wonderful, divine voices. And one of these voices gives us Regula. We can only be grateful for this. I wrote 'Hi om' beforehand. Well, I was still a guest in another world because I spoke to a former hobby friend. We were both radio amateurs, and they call themselves 'old man' in short: 'om'. - A woman is an 'ol', an 'old lady', which has nothing to do with the age of the lady. An unmarried woman is a 'yl', young lady. If this lady is now married, then she becomes an 'xyl'. Understood? These and hundreds of other abbreviations come from the time when there were only telegraphy and no telephony. I preferred telegraphy and the Morse alphabet. Nun, Mike, die Engel mögen im Himmel wohnen, hier aber schweigen sie ehrfürchtig und lauschen mit Begeisterung andächtig der Stimme einer Göttin. Hast Du von Regula das 'Exsultate Jubilate' gehört. Falls noch nicht, so zögere nicht. Es klingt einmalig schön.

A fabulous talent! Top of the heap. I love her. But, I wonder if her agent/producer is getting her the gigs that would have more popular visibility. Her body of work seems high-brow/obscure/arcane.

Beg to differ. She has built a niche where not many shine as brightly as her. Love that she sings those highly difficult coloratur repertoire of baroque pieces and Mozart. There's already plenty others doing the big (same old) Arias. I'm sure shes brilliant at those too, but Regula is making a name for herself, bringing 'second rank' (highly demanding) Soprano repertoire from the old era back to life with such simplicity and ease (seemingly). I love her for that
