Great breakdown of the thread protocol, and love the thread animations; they were perfect. 👍🏼

Eve Energy - 4th generation, Eve Weather - 2nd generation, Eve Door & Window - 3rd generation, Eve Aqua - 2nd generation are all available in the U.S., works with HomeKit, and support Thread.

Yes, no more hubs. And I wish more smart products are Apple HomeKit compatible.

2:05 You mentioned it’s separate from our home Wi-Fi. Does thread require Wi-Fi to work or is it it’s own technology. If so, lights can operate if my internet is down?

Great explanation. I would like to comment about "device limit" for Wi-Fi. While that's theoretically true, it's not practically true. The data going back and forth between IOT devices is so small that you just wouldn’t' stress a home Wi-Fi network with those devices.

Good explanation.. thanks for that.. What is the difference between thread and matter? And why they mentioned as matter works over wifi and thread? As u said all thread appliances are not homekit devices. But all appliances built with matter are homekit devices rite?
@regularnerd2 жыл бұрын
Thread is a component of matter. It’s a communication protocol that will be part of matter along with wifi and Bluetooth. All matter devices should work with HomeKit. That is why they are making a standard, to unify everything. But I don’t think everything is known yet with how it will all work.

Random question. Could, in theory, Thread be used to give information to smart devices? Say you have a smart floor that senses water and it tells a smart robot mop/vacuum to come and clean it up?

scenes?

@@feda007 no, I think they mean a routine or automation. It’s like “if this happens, make this, do this” type of thing

What about zigbee and zwave? Can you compare thread to those?

You're completely missing the big picture which is CHIP...:/ So the future is not purely Thread. It's CHIP-over-Thread (and CHIP-over-WiFi/Ethernet for high-bandwidth applications). you should make a video about that.
