Last January while i was in Vegas for CES, someone knocked my beloved hoe off of her life support. Usually she is good for about 4-5 days tops when not hooked up to the wall. I have 11 year old batteries under the bottom...and they have for sure taken abuse but as long as they were on their intellicharger by the end of the evening they did fine. This time though, i came home to about 2 volts. She has been sitting ever since. The shop is a VERY busy place so it is easy to ignore it and let it collect dust. But i couldn't take it anymore! Join me on this journey to revive my Hoe! The ORIGINAL hoe! The hoe that made you want a hoe for yourself!
Today i unboxed and fabbed up the bracket for my two Mechman external regulators. These two will be synced up to be able to control 1600amps worth of juice at around 17v DC. Finding a place to put them that wasn't hoakey was a challenge, but i think i got it. Wiring coming next (i think!).
What is a 6 Phase Alternator A standard alternator is generally 3 phase. This means that there are three “legs” of the stator that fire in succession as the alternator spins, A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C producing alternating current.
6 phase alternators have two 3 phase stators inside the alternator that are slightly out of phase of one another. The two stators fire in succession like this: A-a-B-b-C-c (the second stator is in lower case) Because they are slightly out of phase with one another, there is a cancellation of electromagnetic harmonics that makes the alternator run more smoothly and more efficiently. This allows for cooler operation, more output from a smaller overall housing, and MUCH better durability.
The rectifiers turns the AC current coming out of the stator into DC current. DC current is what is used in an automobile. By passing trough the diodes, half of the AC current is burned off in the form of heat as it is “rectified” into DC current. That heat is what eventually kills alternators. By having (2) rectifier plates, there is much more surface area to dissipate the heat. This is especially important in a high output alternator- as the more amperage the alternator makes, the more heat is generated. Also, by having (12) or (16) diodes (depending on which 6 phase alternator you are talking about) instead of just (6) or (8) diodes in a 3 phase alternator, the heat and electrical load can be distributed more evenly throughout the rear of the alternator housing.

this isn't an SPL vehicle. Sorry. SPL scores mean NOTHING to be honest. If a Honda CRX can do a 157 with 2 12's and it don't even slap very hard but my Tahoe crushes your skull and "only" does a 156, to me it is pointless. I like to test from time to time to see if anything changed but honestly it don't mean shit.

Then people think one thing or another based off some number they saw. In the lanes, SPL numbers are everything. But for a regular slapper on the street, the car itself might impede numbers at the dash while it is caving in your face with real bass. If that makes sense. I do like the meter for what it is and when it is needed, like as a tool.

Looking sweet. I just ordered a blue 370 amp Elite Mechman Alternator last week. Its currently in production for my 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ. Im not doing an elaborate system like yours so to speak but I am doing two ZVX 12s from Skar Audio on two Skv2 1500.1D amplifiers. One for each sub running at 1 ohm. I just bought two XS Power D2700 batteries and will complete a big 3 using 0 awg wire. I just ordered a DD1+ and a CC1+ off ebay to help set it up. It will be running off the Factory Bose system for now but eventually ill upgrade it to a couple of Skar Audio Component sets and run me a skv2 1600.4 4 channel amp for my mids and highs and ill be getting a Pioneer Avic-w8600NEX to head it up. I want to retain my navigation system and Onstar capability. Its gonna be sweet!

Love the bracket idea. May not have hurt though to put a dab of lock tite on those regulator mounting screws. With as much vibration as they’ll see there, it wouldn’t be good for them to fall of one day randomly. Just my $.02.
