For a 1995 International, that's a good looking truck. It could use some love, though. Replace the strobe light heads with LEDs, replace the rear scene lights with LEDs, and put some new domes on the light bar, for now. That would put less load on the electrical system, which results in to reduced maintenance. Later on, come back and replace the light bar with an LED bar, and replace the head on the light tower with LED. Still, I am a bit nostalgic for the old school look! Great job on the presentation, crew!

When I was in high school I was a police explorer. These kids are the fire equivalent of us. Glad to see programs like this still exist. I look back fondly on my explorer days. Got to do a lot of interesting things. Police training, ride alongs, search and rescue, evidence searches, harbor patrol, traffic control, security at fairs and school events. Was a great time. Sadly programs like that are disappearing. I hope South Metro does everything they can to hold onto programs like that.

That was very well done by the teens. I am sure they are very helpful as they all seem to be very knowledgeable. This is a great idea involving the public, and may encourage them to want to be firefighters themselves one day. That always seems to be a problem with any S&R teams is the availability of personnel, and this seems like an excellent way to provide more hands to assist in the load. Great video coverage too.

I think it's a really cool idea to combine the voluntary SAR crew with a voluntary supplemental fire fighting crew. The semi-regular calls for big fires provide the needed "live fire" training, team building and (last but not least in a voluntary crew) fun for the team, which would be much rarer if they would "just" do SAR work - while simultaneoulsy you have a big benefit for your career departement as well, because a few volunteers that are keen on doing the "dirty" work are a huge help for the men at work. This combination saves the city thousands in wages for additional staff while it also provides a better experience for the volunteers. Win-Win. Really clever.

Great Truck! I know this may not be doable on this truck, but on the GW-A (Basicly a pure SCBA Truck that also has a compressor, lots of SCBA Bottles and SCBA in general) of our neighbouring department, there is a water basin were the bottles are put into whilst refilling, because they heat up and then they either don't get as full, or take far longer. But heating may not even be a problem with this system, as it isn't a real compressor...
