Great packing list! I also really like my bike computer. I'd add a raincoat and a tarp to cover your gear to the pile- maybe your camp tarp does that?
@KevDoes2 жыл бұрын
Great callout on the rain coat! My tarp goes under the tent - all of the bags are pretty waterproof so I generally don't cover my bike while I am out :) also a great idea though!
@chris-terrell-liveactive2 жыл бұрын
Excellent video, also impressed by the packing system you have. You don't mention waterproofs so I'm guessing you are riding in a warm place where drying is easy...? I use a similar approach for sea kayaking and hiking trips and will refine my thoughts about bike touring kit, when i next get the opportunity to do a trip. Thanks and safe journeys!

I added a Helinox Chair Zero to my bike touring set-up this April: where has this been all my life!? Its fantastic! Have definitely done the peanut butter thing too: I feel like I have found my people. Where do you stand on old-school bike touring (as in panniers and more emphasis on visiting some sites)? Do you see that as a different thing from bikepacking (or just an old fasioned word for the same thing)? Great video; ride safe. :-)

Im telling you - the chair is a game changer haha and for one pound?!?! Def worth the weight! I don't have a stance on old-school bike touring really. I still see it as adventuring by bike - I just usually associate it more with paved roads vs gravel, but I have got nothing against it! Especially if that's the gear you have, or the type of riding you like to do! I

That was an intelligent list! I've been bikepacking for years and every time I have to answer someone curious ("what should I pack?"), I answer along the same lines (sleep - food - hygiene - tools - clothing). The only thing missing was: how do you back all this in your small bags :) materials for another video? Time to shave the skull, my friend! Combing everything forward doesn't mask the sparsity, unfortunately :'( it just makes it more noticeable. Shave - you've got a perfect skull :) you'll take more time to get used to it than us, believe me. Well, do what you want, of course. :) But it's time to shave :) :)

latex gloves (or the equivalent) can help if you are tubeless or don't wax your chain. My biggest debate is how big of a battery pack i need. 10,000mAmp feels like less than needed for 5 or 6 days.

Dumb question: why carry a patch kit when you have a tubeless setup and repair kit specifically for that? Ok, site, the tube patch kit is tiny and weight little, bit it's still taking up some of your very limited space.
@jasonlohr-johnson59402 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question, great question. It’s like a last resort. Fix the tubeless tire, if that doesn’t work or fails again, you may need to put in a tube, if that gets a hole, you can patch that… it’s tiny light weight back up. #reiemployee
@KevDoes2 жыл бұрын
yeah its a great question Rachel! It is the backup for my backup :) The tires are essential for me to keep moving, and since the patch kit takes up such little space its nice to have. ALSO it works to patch some other things - I forgot my sleeping pad patch kit once and my sleeping pad got a hole in it and guess what came to the rescue!
