3:29 can someone give me a best case scenario if he drew the cradle off the visionary that would result in him winning that turn? I couldn’t figure it out. Seems like best case he would tap the cradle for 2 mana which he could use to play 2 elves in hand and tap those for 3 mana to do a bit more, but I don’t see how he could even get up to 4 mana to cast his natural order, let alone win that turn. Anyone?

Good point, I would continue playing too, although the construct does grow for every permanent put onto the board, which makes out-racing the opponent tricky.

Hello Reid, what do you think about Skemfar Avenger for Pioneer? Card seems fairly strong in a lower power format. Nice video btw!
@SindarinElealar3 жыл бұрын
46.40 what made you decide on Visionary? That seems needlessly risky when you have an "I win" card in hand in Ouphe: all you need is to kill Urza with Trophy in upkeep, and hope they don't do anything ridiculous and it's game over next turn (they literally have no non-artifact mana sources though they do of course get the Tomb...but Tomb alone isn't enough if they can't use their fax, and their only ways to get rid of Ouphe are activated abilities). Hell, just dropping Ouphe itself isn't a bad call; they still have one turn of mana but they can't kill Ouphe without Ballista/similars and they can't do much to outright end you. Then there's the already mentioned "Just kill Karn" on the turn where you scoop. You're still in the game; they're short on cards (though with plenty of mana) and probably running fairly dry. It's fully possible they simply have nothing left after you take down Karn and have to spin Urza, which you'll kill next turn if you draw a land.

Why is the vid so blurry despite being uploaded in 1080P? Hard to read some of these cards as someone who is not super familiar with this deck

I love watching Reid play. But geesh, WotC... "can't be countered" clauses on cards were a huge design mistake.
@anthonyhansel91753 жыл бұрын
You sound like a free counter player. Which, by the way, are a huge design mistake.
@Eric-mw1gr3 жыл бұрын
@@anthonyhansel9175 Couldn't disagree more; the presence of Force allows degenerate combo decks to exist without wrongfully dominating the format, which leads to more diversity. Force is a fundamentally fair card. If you're talking about misstep, though, I'd totally agree. One for one free spells are a mistake; one for twos are healthy, for legacy.
@SindarinElealar3 жыл бұрын
I dunno. I think it mostly introduces some more rock-paper-scissors dynamic to the game. Note, Elves (or any creature deck, where "can't be countered" predominantly occurs) isn't winning superfast without spells (such as Natural Order or Glimpse) and Allosaurus Rider is still a 1-mana 1/1. This just gives creature decks a leg up against countermagic (and Chalice)-based decks meaning those decks prey more on spell decks and spell decks prey on creature decks and creature decks prey on those decks. I think it's a pretty successful way of diversifying the metagame overall, and it's not like those effects don't have counterplay. It just means you don't have one-size-fits-all counter, you might have to use removal instead.
@fallintoadream3 жыл бұрын
It helps make the format not all delver mirrors
@silverdeathgamer29073 жыл бұрын
@@SindarinElealar Allosaurus shepherd affects all green spells though and is itself uncounterable I think just affecting green creature spells would have been better even as a 1/1, which can also be a finisher for elves or not itself being uncounterable.

What are you talking about it’s in 1080p? Sometimes if the video hasn’t fully uploaded it can go up as a 480p version but this video looks great.
@OlimarandLouie3 жыл бұрын
@@stonebeard2194 though the video may be uploaded in "1080p", the quality of the video appears much closer to 720p. I suspect that the reason for this is that Reid is recording a zoomed-in portion of a 1080p monitor.
