Excellent tutorial and the only one out of many that explains how to operate this looper really, really well. Thank you so much. I was pulling my hair out with the countless other videos that I sat through. The other demos either use 'lingo' that isn't helpful to all new users or the presenters are overly energetic which is distracting. You have presented this calmly and slowly. As a result, I have been able to finally understand it. The Boss tutorial started well, but for me, it went down a path of using words that are for more experienced musicians and wasn't so helpful for a newbie. 🙌

FS-7 is good to use as external dual switch to compliment these BOSS RC Peddles. I have an RC-1 and use an FS-7 with it. Thanks for the post and just to say you did a good thorough job of showing what the RC-5 is capable of. The FS-7 really is worth looking into and plugs into the 1st of 3 inputs on right hand side of the peddle for switching between beat variation a, b, c etc and between other settings in the menu like start, stop, undo as an alternative to double click on the peddle itself. That FS-7 is a big asset.

I have been working with the RC 5 for about a year, and am pleased with my progress. Pretty complicated for an old man(73) and I have been using it for backing tracks primarily. I record a track, set up the start/stop parameters, Fade in/fade out, plus several other functions. I then write everything to the track in memory. When I go to a new unrecorded track, all my saved parameters are there on the new track. and I must change the global settings back in order to record, overdub, etc. There must be a way to save all parameters to individual tracks but leave the global settings alone but have not found it yet!! Has anyone found a way to do this??
@stefancapan9475 Жыл бұрын
73 and using an RC-5 for about a year? I am impressed! I would think by now you are technically most frustrated and still stuck in a sort of "beeper, typewriter, fax, land line, flip phone (maybe), CRT, Tube TV" kind of rut, lol. I am only a spritely almost 72, but I just got my very own RC-5, after realizing the same issues with my over six year old RC-3 that you brought up. Sir, I do consider you to be a trailblazer I shall endeavor to hopefully follow in the footsteps of. I salute you! If I can assimilate this new "beast" properly, I will see if I can solve the individual track/global settings question you asked about. I have seen a few others even comment about that very puzzle. Good luck!

Reid, I like your reviews a lot. Thxs for this. Here is a question regarding the RC5. When I place it at the end of my chain directly into the amp (no fx loop), I need to scale down the level to 10 in order that it is not blowing up the amp. This is not happening by the way when going into an active speaker. The same applies when I am downloading the additional wav-files provided at the RC-tone studio (just some useful drum presets for rock and blues). Again I have to downscale the level - this time even to 1 in order not to kill the amp. This is still fairly loud. The problem comes when I am trying to overdub these files. I cannot hear my overdub - the drum loop, originally recorded at level 100 and played at level 1, is at room level. The overdub (now recorded at level 1 and played at 1) I can barely hear. Any experience with adding Audio files to the RC5? Thxs, Peter

I love how detailed this guide is! This thing can do a lot. I have one question that I didn't see answered in your video. If I select the memory with the footswitch, can I have the loop playing? As in, could I have an A section on memory 1, and a B section on memory 2, allowing me to seamlessly change between verse and chorus like the RC-10R?
@ReidsReviews3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can change between memory slots either with an external footswitch or using the main knob. For example, if you are playing a loop on memory slot 1 then navigate to memory slot 2. Memory slot 2 will begin playing after memory slot 1 is finished.

My current problem that I can’t seem to find a solution to is, lets say I don’t like the first thing I put inside the looper before I overdubbed, I can just clear it by holding it down and then starting again, but after i put an overdub and I delete the overdub but then I also want to delete the first loop I put in before the overdub, when I try holding it down to clear it just ends up putting back the pervious overdub that I just undid, I know that’s the purpose , BUT I CANT FIND A WAY TO CLEAR AFTER I OVERDUB (without having to go down and turn the knob and it deleting by itself because I didn’t save it, but this is not an ideal way than just clearing it by holding it down)

I've downloaded about a dozen backing tracks off of it, but when I use it in the pedal it sets the level to 100 (default) and that distorts the track really bad. Roland has a habit of doing this, over complicating their pedals. I had a dr5 drum machine long ago and it was so complicated, they put in everything including playing guitar chords by pressing a series of buttons. I just wanted some rhythms and drum accompaniment. I love my rc3, 99 memories, 3 hours of recording time, downloadable to a computer, perfect,...plenty for a musician. I love Roland's stuff but they need to stop these multiple up grades, too many choices and too much superfluous tec crap that guitar players will never use.

Hey folks, apologies if this question has already been asked... but I can't seem to get a simple yes or no answer. Could I use this pedal as a loop player with me elctribe sampler and Novatation circuit. So example, I have a backing track on the RC5, and when I click play on the circuit to start a loop will the RC 5 also start if connected via a mid? So I could have a backing track on one of the slots that I could then play along to and start at the same time using the circuit? Hope that make sense!
@ReidsReviews4 жыл бұрын
You can trigger a track to play on the rc5 via midi.
@bornwithoutprivilege2050 Жыл бұрын
I own an rc3 and I find that the rc5 is overly complicated for most guitar players. I had the Roland dr5 drum machine, many years ago and found it overly complicated as well. Most of the functions on the dr5 and the rc5, are not used by most guitar players. These functions are put in by tec guys that put them in because they can. Just going through the functions of a rc5 takes 30 mins on this video. To completely master them would take years. Musicians are more interested in playing our instruments than learning tec stuff. Roland, which I love, made the same mistake here that they did to the dr5 drum machine, too complicated, better for tec guys than for musicians. I love my rc3. If I want more drum tracks, I can add it from an outside source or Play the drums, or use garage band (highly underrated, and ahead of its time). I bet most of the functions on the rc5 are never used by most guitar players.
