That's amazing!!! There used to be volcanoes in New Mexico. The calderas remaining from it is what the cliff dwellings in the high desert were built into. I don't know if they extended into Texas too, but I imagine it's related.

I bought a candle from a friend that had a beautiful handheld size piece of raw obsidian. I didn’t know anything about the stone. I was drawn to it and started holding it as a pray and I slept with it in my right hand. It did make me feel protected. Again I knew nothing about this stone. I've got what I call an abyss filled with negative emotions and experience that I couldn't deal with at the time. Bad life thus far. I was drawn to this stone not too long ago. I didn't have any knowledge of what it does or what to expect. I knew that I needed to heal. I was willing to heal. And heal I did. It was intense. It doesn't come up all at once. I had 36 years of bad tucked away. The lid comes off of the pit/box you keep all that in. It's starts to come out in parts. It comes out with emotions and words. It made me cry. A lot. But in crying it was a release. A beautiful release. Not the stress cry that makes you have a headache and can't breath... No it was pure release. It happens over time. Don't be a afraid of it, but be ready for it.

Today I was at the farmers market like usual. I have looked at black obsidian a few times with my daughter. Today she says , dad you should get that black obsidian. I bought a black obsidian stone gua sha from Sephora and I keep it near my bed next to a Tarot deck I own. I use it for spa/self-care and protection purposes if it's advisable to do that. I was troubled yesterday so when I went to bed early I held my black obsidian in my hand. My mind and heart was cleared. I wasn’t focused on what was bothering me. I felt peace. As I started to drift off I felt a little shock on my finger. It wasn’t a hurtful shock and I was not startled by it. My first thought was “it’s doing what I need it to do” lol but I’ve never experienced is before. My hand and fingers weren’t moving when I was shocked. What does this mean..? Yes! I'm so glad you commented. A small "shock" is how I would describe it. Like when you wear socks on carpet but it lasted slightly longer. In my case, I was rinsing a piece of bloodstone under cool water to cleanse it. After drying it, when grasped it from the towel, that's when I got the shock ... And then INSTANTLY I could feel my ancestors surrounding me and pouring their love into me. It was an amazing experience. Thanks be to God for His gifts from the earth! ❤️🥰

It might be that it mirrors their energy. It can absorb negativity but it needs to be cleansed regularly. Otherwise it’s like a nicotine patch and starts exuding the negativity back at you and adds to stress and heaviness. Obsidian was used to make sharp weapons and mirrors in Mesoamérica and we believe it can cut chords, spirits and mirrors your reality. Great for divination. Careful how you handle it.

I’ve been a meditator but I can absolutely say obsidian brought blocked energies more easily to the surface. I truly can feel the stone’s energy. Based on my experience I don’t believe this to be pseudoscience or placebo.

When I wear obsidian I’m usually in a bad mood and for some strange reason it kind of eases my negative feelings, it doesn’t get rid of it but it’s like it’s saying “I know how you feel” and I don’t feel so alone wearing it even if I don’t talk about it with other people. A nothing thing that I find helpful with black obsidian is that it works well with pink crystals to me such as pink opal that I can still feel dark with the obsidian but it helps calm me down and be more gentle with myself and others when I’m feeling dark like if I’m angry I can still feel it but it’s not so overwhelming

I’ve been using obsidian for protection in general but also on the psychic vibratory level as it has communicated to me when I ask for wisdom or some guidance. I have many different shapes and forms of obsidian and it’s a favorite of mine. One point I’ve used is for circle casting and guardian to my altar when I’m doing work or not home. I have an obsidian athame that I haven’t used in a while and I wonder if it’s trying to get in contact with me again. I was not aware so much of it being a stone to bring up old issues that haven’t been resolved and I admit things do come up and I’ve felt things I haven’t in a long time.
