I really love sitting and watching designers do things like this, I find it really interesting....I’m not sure how anyone think this is an improvement on the original Design. To my eye it looks like an E-Type in Americana spec, it removes the sleek compact look of the original and adds a land yacht style to the car in a way the Nissan Z cars almost added Japanese elements to the design.
@robvanza4 жыл бұрын
From a more old Brittish look to a more sleek roadster design. I've been in love with E-Types since school days and thought it was going to be a mess redoing it, but I love it! If I had the money I'll let him build me one tomorrow!
@St_McC_Sloth4 жыл бұрын
Robert that’s fair enough, I think if I was looking something a bit more chrome filled and bigger as they’ve made it, I’d either go for an old R107SL or an XJC! Not a bad decision to make though! 👍🏻

Looks super, with the exception of the wheel size, which should be substantially smaller, and the ride height which should be higher. The suspension should be able to breathe both physically (long wheel travel)and visually. I especially like the idea of integrating the exhaust end into the body of the car. I wonder what mr. Foose can come up with for the Tesla model 3? Quiet a challenge 😅 What I could dream up for the Tesla is hiding the front license plate behind glass integrated in the front bumper, like the Citroën SM. Using a double bubble roof Zagato style. And ultimately taking of the outside rear mirrors and replacing them with small rear cameras like the Honda E. Wonder what mr Foose will do with the Tesla 🧐

Love the car both before and after. One thing to talk to people about is,"How do you know when it is done?" Someone once said the E-type needed much more down force on the front end. Personal preference, I like to have the wheel wells rounded to match an even distance around the tire. Lower the car? okay, match the new lines to the tire and the car if need be.
@dustypendleton66944 жыл бұрын
I have to admit that, as a former E-type owner, it was appalling to even think about changing the design of what to me was the most elegant and beautiful automobile, ever. Still, it has to be noted that Mr. Foose designed a worthwhile project target. Now, leave the E-Type to the concourse d'elegance and high dollar auctions and build this new Foose mobile with all new frame and molded Kevlar body work. Especially, go for an outboard brake on the rear axle. The Jaguar Independent rear suspension was a nightmare to service.

I still think e-types should stay somewhat affordable, but I don’t think they should be butchered. just think a 2+2 shouldn’t be over 30 or 40 grand in the future, should be obtainable to be appreciated and driven, but not really modified like this. Although I’m probably wrong, been seeing good examples of early 2+2s for like 50 - 60k recently

You say the coupe looks top heavy. In 1967(?), Jaguar introduced the “2+2” coupe. It was about 3 inches taller than the original coupe was. The door glass wouldn’t go all the way down into the door. If you want to see a good looking XKE, check out the “Low-Drag” E-Type. It’s quite different from the standard coupe, and I think it’s better looking. Take care.

"The wheels are very small." They were small on the XKE roadster, too. Then Chip put Conestoga wagon-sized wheels on the roadster he actually built. As Chip get older, the wheels get BIGGER and the tire side walls become rubber bands. Chip is slowly moving into Pimp My Ride and GAS territory. Any car Enzo Ferrari called most beautiful should be left alone.

You're saying that as though the Z-cars weren't just warmed-over E-types. I've personally found the XKE coupe to be a bit awkward looking, Chip's rendering takes a lot of that stereotypical British awkwardness away and gives the coupe a much sleeker design.

The difference between styling an old ford or a Camaro and an E-Type is that with the ford or the chevy there's lots to play with. With the Jag, you take a blank sheet of paper and a pen, stare at it for a while and you put down the pen and walk away saying, "I got nothing"
