I've heard this song 1 1/2 times before. First time, got 1/2 way through it and changed the channel. Don't care for Willie. Second time, was forced on me as a passenger. Ears bled for days. Took a long time to click on this version. Was ready to click right back off. Surprise, surprise!! Y'all make this rag of Willie's sound like a piece of music. A good one. Well done! [still won't listen to Willie...willingly] Keep 'em coming, you do your covers very proud.

I've been an acoustic guitar lickin' player for almost 30 years and, please, only take this with the intention my delivering this in a modestly, prudent compliment. But I now get why some women throughout my life, have told me how attractive it is when I'm playing and singing. Fruition

I went to a WIllie concert in 1979 or '80 in Ft. Collins CO. They played this song at the end, for literally 45 minutes! Every single time as soon as the song was over, and things were quiet, he'd hit the first 3 notes, and BOOM, the crowd went wild....for 45 minutes...28 times he 'encored' this song.....sigh....not sure if that's a good memory or not, but it IS a memory. LOL

This youtube channel has been providing us with clear and high quality videos with simple, elegant and to-the-point presentation, meaning no excessive animation, no running text, no excessive narrative, no nothing, ... it is elegant and classy in almost every aspect of video presentation. And, I love the music and the musicians so much. .... Wait .... I see something new in Toni's look. The eyeliner .... nice accent any way. But, I prefer Toni's natural and original look ... I think the look of her natural face is just perfect ... The blond-golden hair ... is just beautiful.

Wonderful performance of Whiskey River! Johnny Bush (who passed away recently) wrote and sang Whiskey River, Willie made it famous. Johnny says he smiled everytime he checked his mail for the money Willie made for him each time the Red Headed Stranger performed it. Bush has a funny version of Whiskey River, thanking Willie for the checks in the mail.

Your story is correct. Please let me add to it. Willie and Johnny -two Texas Honky Tonk players - had known each other many years. Johnny had a medical problem with his voice and could not perform. Willie took his song hoping it would be a hit knowing Johnny would get royalties and thus give Johnny some $ to live on. Of course the song was good for Willie too. I am a Texan and a Willie fan for over 50 years. We are glad Texas can share Willie with the world. Willie has a heart as big as Texas and ready to help those in need.
