Reinier Baas plays together with some members of the WDR BIG BAND under the direction of Christian Elsässer "Smooth Jazz Apocalypse" (K / A: Reinier Baas). Solos are played by Marcus Bartelt on bass clarinet, Martin Gasser on alto saxophone, Christian Elsässer on piano, Ruud Breuls on trumpet, Johan Hörlen on alto saxophone, guest soloist Reinier Baas on guitar and Hans Dekker on drums and John Goldsby on bass. Recorded as part of the concert "A Tiny Big Band Adventure" at the Altes Pfandhaus / Cologne (November 2020).
It is often not at all easy to talk about music, sometimes even the musicians* themselves find it difficult to put their works into words. In the case of Reinier Baas, a look at his discography helps: eight years ago, the Dutch guitarist released an album entitled "Mostly Improvised Instrumental Indie Music". Improvisation, instrumental music and independence are indeed three pillars in the life of this young artist. As a fourth pillar, one should definitely add his uncompromising willingness to take risks. The concert project "A Tiny Big Band Adventure" will focus on excerpts from his "predominantly instrumental opera" called "Reinier Baas vs. Princess Discombobulatrix".
