Super collab, thanks! Had a giggle thinking of ever there was a place for a " Boob light" to stay on theme😹But for the ceiling medallion to be the star of the show, a simple globe pendant would be my first choice. Amazon sells battery operated led bulbs , since you said you don't have a hardwired fixture to replace. Excited to see what you decide.😻

A globe is always a great choice! Matt just got a secondhand one for $15 and it looks killer in his place 😍

LOL! It sure would. I agree a globe could be really nice with this.

Brilliant collab! For the future lampshade: try packing tape transfer. The collage elements get see through like old fashioned photo slides. You might be able to do similar with a layer of matte medium, letting it dry, and gently wetting the paper and rubbing the paper away. You end up with the film of matte medium and printing. The packing tape transfer is the same but faster. Fun stuff when you add lights.

She actually did image transfers on the piece she showed near the beginning with war imagery (fighter planes, etc.) over the thrifted print of cupids.

Until you decide what lighting you’re going to use on ceiling, I would be tempted to put a circular mirror in the hole and hang it on the wall. Sometimes you have to live with an art piece before you know where the best place is to display it. The mirror will draw people to it and really look at the collage. Once it is on the ceiling the collage could become secondary to the light fitting. Just a thought! Love your work. 🎨✨💕

Came here via Andrew's channel, and I love your process/thoughts, and the result! I never would have thought of collaging on a ceiling medallion, but I absolutely love the result and it ipens up a lot more possibilities for my own art projects and what I could consider for bases in the future.

So glad I could inspire your future projects, it's always cool to think about what can be collaged.

How about a Monrovia star light fixture?

I always love a Moravian star! So much history and tradition… but with such a modern and geometric look. Great choice!

What a beautiful redo for a ceiling medallion! Wow! I love the idea of mixing modern with vintage and having a temporary type lighting fixture added to the medallion. Another option is just hanging it on a wall as an art piece, or possibly adding a mirror to the center circle. You and Andrew work so well together so I hope for more collabs! QUESTION for the live stream: What are some ways to combine vintage black and white photos with color cut outs so that they work well together to make a more cohesive final artwork?

I love the idea of hanging it on the wall! It's a good alternative. I'm glad it shows through, doing collabs with him always push me to make such interesting artworks ☺️ thanks for the question. I'll add it to our list!

This is so cool! I just came from Andrew’s video, and this was lovely! I works as a cool art piece on the wall for now, but here’s two idea for it: 1. My friend painted a cheap medallion and hung her planter from it rather than a light. It really mixed fun modern and historic style in her historic house that had been stripped of all historic features in a previous flip. 2. I used one in my room with a simple wrought iron tea light candle chandelier! It’s from my childhood home and now lives in my room 20 years later over the console table at the foot of my wrought iron bed. There’s no center ceiling light and we can’t wire for it because we rent, but we CAN paint, so adding this as center ceiling light in a spot I physically can’t walk under (because of the console table) was a great way to add some character!

Great collab. Flanzella videos are always so interesting and informative. I like the inclusion of various artists and process related topics. Your collages are fantastic. Polished- but not "sterile AI" and humorous with feminine commentary/messages!
Leah the ceiling rose look amazing, love the idea of recasting Eden as all female, you used base colours that are a mix of retro 50's and art deco, but adding a contemporary renaissance to the piece really works,I agree with Andrew a vintage chandelier could work as a light or something really modern, depending on where you place the medallion finally. This it's what's great about collage,it's transformative ability,it totally elevated the ceiling rose.(Matt)p.s it also invokes the idea of a ready made like Duchamp, but transformed in a slightly surreal way too.

@@flanzella I try to comment from what I feel, about things you post, speaking from an artist's heart I guess. It also made me think of that song by inde group The Pale Saints called "Throwing Back The Apple" and the idea of Eve rebelling in the garden of Eden and realising maybe she didn't need Adam after all!

The color scheme suits the style of the roundel because it also recalls rococo and neoclassical/Palladian ceiling and wall treatments, creating a vibe that goes well with the women and fruit. It's kind of like a Fragonard painting.

Continuing with the "inspirational artists" topic that you began in previous videos... I mentioned Kate Gilmore's art as a possible inspiration for both you and for Andrew, particularly her "Higher Ground" performance piece in Grand Rapids, Michigan. If you're not familiar with it already, "Higher Ground" was related to: - issues of femininity and gender - human movement within an interior space (mostly), but with openings to the outdoors - simpler-than-Simplicity white dress fashions - changing light conditions during day, night, and varying weather conditions - Habitat for Humanity - the removal of pink vinyl exterior siding from an old house to reveal older layers of siding If you have not seen the short film _Tango_ created by Zbigniew Rybczynski, it might be a possible inspiration to you in some way. (Not that either you or Andrew needs any extra inspiration...) Considering the technology available to Rybczynski in the early 1980s, I think the "choreographed collage" animation is remarkable.

This is gorgeous. Unfortunately acrylic paint is going to flake off anything oil based so the medallion would have needed to be sanded to have longevity. Hopefully whatever made the water act like that wasn’t oil based. I don’t understand the choice of the woman and cat. The theme seems to be a renaissance look with naked women and fruit but then there’s a random woman dressed in modern clothes with a cat. What’s the thought behind that?
