The theme of Rek'sai is more thematic than musical since it is from Rek's point of view. When the sounds are muffled and the drums are footsteps from the surface, Rek'sai is stalking people and when the music gets more intense and scary, she chases them down and kills them one by one as she does in her short story. At the end, it goes back to the "underground perspective" except that there are no more steps to be heard, just silence.
