I love the hires. Allen wasn’t the best HC but it was his defenses when he was DC’s that led to him being hired as an HC twice and Ben will be able to pick up from his mistakes which should lead to him not making the same ones. I also love the OC being super young bc it means that he’s hungry and he’s more likely to do more listening and asking questions than interjecting and butting heads with Ben. Idk how it’s going to all work out but I love the way that’s its all coming together. Also like to mention that I played against Antwaan Randel El in Baseball in HS. Man I remember him making one of the most insane plays that I’ve ever seen. With a man on 2nd base, my teammate roped a pitch deep in the gap hitting the wall and Antwaan playing CF quickly got to the ball and threw an absolute seed all the way to home plate getting the out. I just remember everybody going from excitement to literally being able to hear a pin drop in the grass, besides the low “whhhooooa” that came from everyone. It’s one of those moments that you just remember vividly no matter how long ago it was. He also played QB in HS which ppl said was “his best sports”. Others might say it was basketball when he started at PG in HS and won the state championship against the legendary Kevin Garnett and Ronnie Fields (pre injury). And he was only like 5’9. I swear 4 or 5 inches taller and he’d be a HOFer in one of the 3 sports no doubt. Still he had a good pro career with the Steelers and was recently coaching on the Lions staff. He’ll definitely bring some juice to this Bears staff for sure. Sorry for the long comment, just proud of the boy bc we’re from the same hood growing up and now he’s coaching on the HomeTown team. 🐻👇🏽

the OC is a hire via the rooney rule for white guys....usually called nepotism. similar to legacy admissions in ivy league colleges, lol

these hires make sense.......this might be the best coaching staff the bears have assembled in quite some time. johnson, of course as head coach and play caller, allen can help ben learn the ropes with his head coaching experience and his defenses have always fared well. he brings in much needed experience to the staff. doyle will be an offensive coordinator in training learning from the best in the league and will gain valuable experience from both ben and allen. randel el is a nice addition as well. kudos to warren and poles for taking the coaching staff hires seriously for a change. we surely won't lose games next year due to coaching and bad late game decisions. now, the next step is attaining some high level talent through free agency (which now players will WANT to come to a team on the rise) and the draft.

Great points, KAP. BJ is the OC. DD studied under the tutelage of Coach Sean Peyton, even when Campbell was with Peyton also. BJ wanted someone he could trust. If Sean hired him twice, he must be worthy.

IMO it shapes up like this; Dennis Allen is the de facto head coach of the defense. Declan Doyle's job will be as a buffer/sounding board for the players on offense (except Caleb Williams, who will be Ben Johnson's personal project). It won't be an easy job, because Doyle will have to deal with the inevitable griping, but it could be a good learning experience in the dynamics of locker room management.

Da Bears need to hire Olin Kruetz as the OL coach . He is a former center and all pro lineman who read defenses great and is a leader of men. His input would be great for the Bears locker room and at halls hall...stop the search and get him coach Johnson

Thank you David Kaplan for the update and let me tell you something. The Bears organization isn't playing around. Credit the staff by getting an all star caliber coaching staff that will grow on offense, defense and special teams nevertheless that Hightower is staying as special teams but this coaching staff is hardcore and it's all about winning now. So let's see how it goes. Take that Kap.

It’s hard not to get super hyped to be honest to see the bears actually go out and spin for a number one head coaching candidate and then go and spend for the number one defensive coordinator candidate out there. It’s like never been done since I’ve been a air fan. We’ve always been cheap. We’ve always gotten the second tier head coaches I mean shit when we hired Matt Eberflus I had no idea who that was I sure as hell know who Dennis Allen and Ben Johnson are though I’m trying to temper expectations because it’s hard for me to see a five and 12 team be playoff contenders the next year just because of some coaching changes, but I’m still super excited nonetheless

I’m really hoping they can add some more coaches with head coaching experience to this staff. Ben needs all the support he can get. I know Mike Martz has been hyping uo Ben on some Chicago media lately. I wonder if he would take an adviser role in this coaching staff. What’s Adam Gase doing? I know Ben listed him as an influence. Let’s get these guys who were good coordinators but had failures at head coaching in the building to bring in a wealth of knowledge and experience for Ben to lean on. I do love the up and comers they’ve brought in and Dennis Allen is a great hire. Don’t think he’ll be getting another HC job anytime soon so we should be able to have some sustainable success if this all works out.

Ben Johnson is not a head coach. Not in his DNA. That said if you get a bunch of hard ass assistants it still might work ok. Main thing is if they improve the O Line significantly and have the coaching there and Ben and Caleb do find success than yes this could be a fun ride but there are a lot of ifs. It’s just how many times in life do you have a cheap avoidable disaster like last season was and then immediately you turn it around and it’s all gravy?
