It looks like 120 days of non-payment before foreclosure starts. So estimate 6 months. Head-cannon timeline: June he stops paying and Oct/Nov bank starts chatting with Nick about back pay. Nov-Dec they start foreclosure procedures accounting for the fact nothing moves in the states from Dec 15- Jan 10 except retail. "Why take out a mortgage?" The idea is to get a better return on investment than the mortgage rate ~ 5% at the time. US was experiencing 8-10% real inflation in 2022 (the news/govt lied about the numbers by constantly readjusting how they counted it - but that was the time people were bitching about the price increases in eggs). I think people severely overestimate how much money Nick made. On playboard Nick clearly made about $1.3 million in superchat revenue throughout the entirety of his career. It's safe to say the vast majority of that was made pre-2024. Ad revenue he probably made around $250k-$350k because he's not a high CPM content creator like a Markiplier so he would be given the lower value ads by KZbin. The Rumble contract was probably between $500k-$1.2m based on how his channel was performing at the time. Even with the sponsors if he was hitting them for $20k a pop then at best he brought in an additional $150k since he didn't really run sponsored ads until his channel was well within a decline anyway. At his lowest he would have made around $2.2 million career earnings. At best $3m. After taxes he probably walked away with $1.386m after 37% federal taxes (Texas has no business income tax) and 1.1693m if he counted the rest of the earnings as individual income for MN taxes (9.85%.) So yeah $1.5m in earnings sounds about right. He bought a massage chair, car, surgeries, coke for everyone, women, etc. while going on destination trips. People don't understand that the guy whose the "wallet" for all of his "friends" burns through their entire paycheck the day it's cashed. I've seen guys have $90k/yr second jobs that exclusively paid for their addiction. They get paid, go right down to the bar, dealer, etc. and party with all of their "friends." That entire check is gone by the time they come home. That's just how it goes with addiction & Nick is your standard addict no matter how much he denies it. Even his "I'm not like those people. I was just having fun" line is a stereotypical addict line.

A quick note from someone who also lives in Minnesota: after 60 days, foreclosure proceedings can start - and often do at 90 days. I was nearly at 90 days myself, and the bank called to make some concessions and offers.. they were very willing to do something to keep me there. I offered to just pay my three months at once, and they happily accepted and immediately removed all foreclosure processes. After 60 days, two full missed payments, banks also contact a towing company to repo the car… In short, they move very quickly here in Minnesota.

I would venture a guess that he hasn't streamed in a while and has been advised to let the mortgage go into foreclosure. At sentencing the argument will be that nick is the sole earner of family of 6/7 whose house is in foreclosure so judge should follow agreement concerning fines/costs and no jail time. Not a MN lawyer but in my jurisdiction you don't lose the house at that time of sheriff's sale. There is a redemption period (prob 6mth min) that trust fund can come in redeem the property. There also may be state assistance programs he is eligible for but the home may need to be at a certain point to be eligible.

My guess on the reason for the loan. Taxes. Started making money hand over fist, Spent like it was going out of fashion, not putting anything away for the tax man. Large tax bill lands, mortgages the house for some quick cash to pay the bill. And instead of calming down on the spending, paying it off and putting aside the tax mans share, he carries on like the per month income is just going to go up and up and up, so fretting about the mortgage can be a future nick issue. But then his time peaks. Instead of toning it down just a little tiny bit and keeping the YT gods happy and riding it out on YT, he signs with rumble and his SC's tank, doesn't fulfil his Runble/Locals contract (These exclusive streams he kept saying he had to do and kept pushing back and back), starts missing reg streams, etc, etc... Then monty hits (and while I think monty's case is prob weak), nick decides to hire Randazza and thats just a massive cash sink on top of all of his other cash sinks. Time marches on and he is now broke. All of this could have been avoided, all he had to do was start the f'ing stream and lay off the drugs while doing so.

Decade, not year. His lawsuit with Monty probably had a lot to do with it. Randaza isn’t cheap. He made a crapload of money, and YT isn’t a forever thing. Should have taken ever extra penny and invested to just live off the interest. He’s got 5 kids to potentially put through college.

2 reasons I can think of off the top of my head. 1) They’ve always done it. He’s been consistently bailed out time and time again by his parents. He was not a particularly great lawyer when he was actually practicing, and being solo doesn’t really make you a ton of money yet he was able to support 5 kids and a drinking habit, AND upgrade his house (I’m aware the house upgrade was his parents doing, thus proving my point further) Nah. Mom and dad have probably never told him no so why start now? This all feeds into 2) the kids. Now that kids are involved, I believe his parents would do anything to keep him upright as it would look bad on them if he failed, and they want to make sure the kids at lest get some support. His parents failed him by never saying no, and they will probably continue to fail him as long as little kids are involved.
