Relationships between two or more spaces, audience and performer, modified. - Tim Dallett
January 20 - February 18, 2017 at PAVED Arts
Using intermedia, installation and live performance approaches, Tim Dallett will present a process-based investigation of PAVED Arts’ facilities.
Tim Dallett is interested in how audio-visual media shape the ways artistic intentionality can be expressed and shared with an audience. Involving video imagery and sound produced in real time, in and for a specific site, his work investigates the relationship between media representations and the spatial contexts in which they are experienced by people. In creating a new project at PAVED Arts, Tim will use architectural interventions to structure the output of a multi-camera video and audio system transmitting between different parts of the building. Collapsing the difference between live studio television, machine vision and video art traditions, Relationships… offers spectators new ways to apprehend and reflect on their interactions with gallery space, the consumption of media, the role of the artist and the experience of place.
The work is also informed and shaped by Tim’s personal history of living in Saskatoon and working at PAVED Arts in the mid/late 2000s, when the organization moved to its present location.
Relationships… will have 3 main components:
1 - a restructuring of the PAVED Gallery space;
2 - a live audio-visual performance, presented daily between January 21 and January 28 during regular gallery hours;
3 - a gallery installation documenting and reframing the methods used to present the live performance, open between February 3 and February 18 during regular gallery hours.
