The thoracic diaphragm is a double-dome. It has two longitudinal extensions (crura) that travel along the front of the bodies of the vertebrae from T12 to the tip of the coccyx.
(Through embodiment, I feel there are also two superior crura extending along the front of the bodies of the vertebrae from T12 to the front of the base of the skull (foramen magnum).)
The pelvic diaphragm is a bowl (upside down dome).
When the thoracic and pelvic diaphragms come together on the inhale and move apart on the exhale, there is an elixir between the them.
This is where the mixing of the prana or the chi is happening.
It creates a cauldron between these two diaphragms that gives support to the low back.
Explore the connection between your thoracic and pelvic diaphragms in breathing in this short video.
This clip is from my online course, Embodied Anatomy and the Axial Skeleton.
The full course is available at bonniebainbrid....
This video includes material on embodying the bones and joints of the axial skeleton (central core): the spine and skull, including sections on the six curves of the spine, the skull, hyoid bone, thoracic and pelvic diaphragms, relationship of the pelvic halves and legs, the embryological development of the axial skeleton and a bonus disc of axial skeleton guided somatizations.

This is absolutely INCREDIBLE - the 2 diaphragms meet on the inhale. That makes so much sense.

The way I learnt Kegels though is to contract the pelvic floor on the exhale. What does Bonnie think of this`?

when I play with the awareness of the interplay of the two diaphragms I feel like the breath becomes firm but also I began to warm pleasantly.
