I agree 100% with him. He is not politically correct but he is right. You may dispute on theoretical grounds but if you observe people and are honest with yourself - that's what you get. I think we should redefine equality in a few ways - instead of pushing women into the choice between women's world (emotionally happy but underpaid, not appreciated, not recognized) and men's world (well paid, successful but unhappy) - we should leave women more ground to create their own ways, to merge the two. That's true respect and that would solve the problem.

@Sophie It seems to have it's origins at the universities, which have become toxic due to feminism. The feminist professors of the past few decades have successfully brainwashed the graduates who are now running media and teaching future generations.

I agree 100%. As a feminist and stereotypical strong woman I avoided this book after reading the complaints in the reviews but after the dissolution of my last relationship I realized everything he said was true despite how much I didn’t want to believe it and was taught the opposite in society and school

This is so true. My husband is in a masculine scientific respected high paying career. He’s in awe of what I do & I’ve spent a lot of time learning and practicing my Souls calling - but as my husband says the works doesn’t appreciate the more feminine work yet but that doesn’t lesson it’s importance.

Talking & compromising is only possible if one is lacky to be married to emotionally healthy person or an empath. If one is married to narcissist, sociopath or psycopath you got to do everything their way & even when you do they are never happy. No amount of sex can fix marriage to toxic person!!! Majority of people is clueless about these types of people. They are everywhere(men & women). Needles, to say they are not capable of loving anybody.

Its so scary how frequently and casually these "medical diagnosis needed" terms such as narcissistic and toxic humans are thrown around and often used in place of accountability, accepting personal responsibility, understanding each person is only in control of their own selves and accepting others for who they are rather than demanding everyone change as we see fit and best not try and control us oh hell no!!! Healthy people do not suddenly unsuspectingly innocently end up in one sided, blame free, unhealthy, icky relationships and actual narcissistic personality disorder diagnosed individuals are quite rare!

John Gray's advice to both men and women deals with the problem from the roots unlike all these wannabe "relationship gurus" who aren't even certified psychologists who give you only a quick temporary fix band-aid advice but the ulcer in the relationship never gets healed and remains because there is no genuine appreciation in the difference behind a man's and a woman's differing response which boils down to natural basic biology.

First time I heard him talk. He has been around for quite a while. About time I got educated. Never did get to the relationships tapes he made when married to Barbara De Angelis. Never read his famous Venus/Mars book. Have to get his sequel and read it cover to cover. He speaks from science and biology. All about the timing of male and female hormones! So insightful. I am dumbfounded. All about the timing of what and when to speak. He has it right. A little more info that could be of help: Know that an Aries wife has to be right. Check out his strategies to work with, not against, that trait. Allow her time to cool down. Keep your cool. A hot brain cannot process even peacemaking overtures. Never wimp out. Know that a Leo man is a king. Sociable. Loves parties. No attitudes. Stay sociable, even, to diffuse discord. Stay prepared with an arsenal of relationship strategies to try out. Moods come and go. What doesn't work could work next time. 😊 Remember Ma and PA Kettle in the 50s movies? The actors worked well together on film. The characters respected each other's talents. Be great if we could be complementary to each other instead of conflicting. John Gray delivers a menu for understanding each other. Rah. Rah.

He can be true in the biological level but humans are complex being man and woman. Psychology has a big part too, each individual is different, with different specific needs and motivation, triggers and stimulations. Overall we just want to feel understood as an individual especially by someone we love.

There's some valuable things here, but at the same time I feel that something fundamental is missing. Men are yang, women are yin. The masculine role is to give out - to give his love to a woman, to give his sexual energy, his attention, his time, his money, his whatever to the woman. The woman is yin, so her role is to receive. There is a deep, biological need in women to receive love. When they receive from a man, she feels good. It is women who really need to be loved for who they are, not men. It is men's role to love women for who they are. It is really sad the way so many "modern men" are passive and wanting a woman to love them. When they play the passive role, they are like babies and women are then placed in the role of mothering them, and they don't want a baby for a partner. It is not the job of women to love men. It is the job of women to enjoy being loved by men.

Heather Grahame- That is rediculous to say that it is the man's job to love and not the women's. You are implying essentially that men need to do all the work in a relationship. You are completely ignorant for saying that. Are you single? I would not be surprised. If, by chance, you are in a relationship, I feel very sorry for your man and I do not believe it would be a sustainable relationship. It is also the women's duty to love, respect, trust and serve, just the same as the man's duty. A relationship should NEVER be one- sided or it will NEVER last. I guarentee it! Both have to give and take. But, there is a very tiny bit of truth that you say. It is more important (usually) to the woman to be loved and (usually) more important to the man for him to be respected.

Jeff, I appreciate your comment - and your passion! There are many ways different ways to be loving. I'm talking in generalisations, so of course there are shades of grey, but a woman's love is powerful in the way that she is able to accept a man warts and all. If you have ever been truly accepted by a woman, you would understand how powerful her role is. Some people say that love must be actively giving - but I disagree. I feel that it is the male role to be actively giving and that is his power and his passion. A woman's power is to love unconditionally, to accept without placing any conditions. So you might say that woman is not doing any "work" when she is accepting a man unconditionally, and I would probably agree with you because the masculine is the active, doing, working side of the equation. Women bring something else. Again, these are generalisations. Each person is capable of both the masculine and feminine sides of loving but to me my power in relationship as a woman is to accept lovingly, and that means without criticism, without judgement, without picking and choosing bits and pieces. Fully accepting a man for the love he gives from himself is my power as a woman.

And if I don't like the way one man gives his love, I can go find myself a different man whose love I do want to accept without limitation, criticism, etc.

With receiving and accepting comes responsibility. In general men give out but they don't take responsibility for their actions or they forget what they did in the past. Women receive and they "accept" responsibility for what they receive and part of that involves remembering everything that has been done in the past and dealing with it, taking responsibility for its resolution. So being the receiver isn't all easy peezy. It comes with a lot of responsibility (a lot of responding). How often do men just do whatever they want to the natural environment, to 'mother earth' and expect her to just "deal with it". It is not necessarily easy to receive what a man gives to a woman because he gives her things which challenge her personally. Indeed, even his love can challenge a woman who feels she doesn't deserve to receive it. It's not necessarily easy for either side of the equation.

Can you see in our own small interaction here Jeff that you as a male gave out your energy and, like a ball, I caught it. I agreed to receive it and accept it and take responsibility for "it", the energy that you gave out. I did not say you were right or wrong in what you gave out. I accepted it fully and resolved it within myself as best as I could using my own feminine ways. Women can be incredibly creative with what they receive from a man. She can turn it upside down, back to front, connect it to other things ... that is our gift. Working with what the man has given us.

So true. Been married 12 years and tried to changed to female and was difficult to me to letgo of control of finances as past trauma made me believe that my husband is not good to provide for me. And i did not know how to male him help me. And i want to be finamcialy independed coz man ripped me off. Only fun games was in his mind. And he always said that i complain. And by saying that he shut my mouth for ever. And we divorsed as i did not enjoy to have sex with him. Life was empty and i would love to man but i dont want to teach him that skills or understanding to support me. And i dont know how to go about it myself.

I'm 61 female. I'd really really like to know how or what I can do to naturally increase my estrogen. I've never married or had children and haven't been close to a man for years. What can I practice in my life as a 'solo' to have/feel some estrogen/femininity?
