Behind every good man who is a President of learning, the institution is the Woman who believed in him enough to support and encourage those dreams, even when the one in charge supposedly does not believe enough yet in themselves to carry it out. That is a good definition of help-mete. As mates, we learn to help one another become the man and woman God has called and meant us to be.

What an absolute blessing you kids have to hear the wisdom and experiences Pastor Darryl can bring you. Remember the saying this is my beloved Son, and how Paul adopts sons of faith, well this is my beloved spiritual dad, listen to Him. We should always listen to our Heavenly Fathers, honor our earthly ones, and give thanks to God for our spiritual ones. Darryl is one of the best dads/brothers in Christ you could ever have.

Oh yes, a public place is a good neutral setting. Darryl spoke of the soft word, the loud word turns away the waiter from serving you, so keep that in mind when in public.

Lol - that is a great idea, and being married now over 30 years and into our 60's I will say that is true, have at least once a week a date night (especially when the kids are grown and gone) after all what are you gonna do at home, watch tv or look at each other? Have a special time out to spoil one another, and let each other know you still mean something and that they are special. When we forget, it is easy to be forgotten. This is more a word to those younger and with kids. Women have a big-time chore to quarterback and take care of the big kids and little kids of the house. When they feel ignored and abandoned they will seek attention if you are not the one to give it. Remember just like a job or car, you can be replaced. Keep the spark alive otherwise as Darryl speaks of fire, your whole house can be up in flames. Always keep God at the center of your relationship, He is the best insurance policy. Never let your man or woman drift away from your attention because someone else will be glad to pay attention to them.

Around 46 minutes in ~, the contrast of fairy tale and ball and chain came up. Both images should never be among those who believe and live for the Lord. One heaven has no fables or fairy tales, just like your life in Jesus, it's all gonna be ok, you'll never have a problem, you'll never fight, you'll never argue, you'll never be hurt. If that is your hope, you are not ready to be married and you have not listened well enough to what Darryl has said about the French and the British, in our house we have the Spanish Inquisition, Pancho Villa & Don Quixote on one end, and on the other, we have the stubborn German fella, with an Irish fiery temper. Now by the world's standards oil and water, the two have no business of being together. You will have challenges, you will learn to grow, you will learn patience and you will learn submission, and honor, and love. That is the fable side story. Ball and Chain ~ obligatory scenario ... why would you ever sign up for that? If you feel you are giving your life up and it's over, how was it when you came to Christ? Did you feel well I can't hang out with the boys in the hood no more, I have to put away my bong and weed, I can't think or do that anymore, I can't drink or smoke, etc., etc. too much to give up? If you feel that it is all about you, and you are the one giving up and being imposed upon, then you are also not ready for a relationship because if you are miserable with yourself, you will be a miserable mate. And also, you may want to take a good hard look in the mirror regarding your relationship w Jesus. It's not what you gave up for Him, it's what He gave up for you. It's all about Him. So being selfless is the key to happiness in a relationship. The bottom line here is how are you painting and decorating your house. Are you using fairy tale furniture, or you have to paint on the outside with a double coat. I always recommend a good 6-month pre-marital pastoral counseling session with testing to begin to know if you are compatible. Best to find this out before you say I do, and I'm done, than to see one snoring letting themselves go, and wonder if you made a mistake. Your word is your bond. Your commitment is your integrity. God sees both, and what Darryl says is true, when you invite someone else into the relationship that shouldn't be there in your "sacred" shared temple, then you have done some major and in some cases irreconcilable and irreparable damage to the relationship that only God can clean up.

Lol - about a half-hour in - the theme of inlaws and outlaws is "be patient" they will die, and all the meddling and settling will be over ... so yes, your one day MLK speech you have a dream, it can and will come true. However, I do warn you, you will miss the inlaws and outlaws, not for how they treated you, but because you used them as the scapegoat or excuse be on your toes, you have supplanted their spotlight, and now you are the targeted scapegoat to your kids and one another. That one was for "free" tailing off what Darryl did not give you.
