As much as you say you’re “just blabbering”, these videos actually help me out a lot, man. It helps to hear from someone older than me about issues I’m going thru as a 24 year old who just got out of an unhealthy, incompatible 5-year relationship. Helps to know that this is all a learning experience and it isn’t the end of the world.

Appreciate these stream of consciousness/ advice vlogs mr. Hales. As a 20+ year old I do relate to many of these questions and it's nice to have the perspective of someone who isn't the age of my parents or peers.

I didn't know I could relate so much to one video. I was chasing a girl and had the same reasoning as you mentioned. It was bad I chased her 3 times and she never liked me, it stressed me out so much. You meet people at random that match well with you just by being yourself. I met a friend and we have the same interests as each other. The best part....I met her without effort

It's not about 'number up' for 99% of people, it's freedom. Freedom of money problems occupying most of your thoughts. Of course after say a million dollars (depending on the country) it's mostly 'number up' but the greatest deal of people never get to have a dilemma between 'number up' and enjoying life, because they have no freedom to do that.

It's important to enjoy your life and the things you've earned, and it's important to save for your future as well. The key is carving off a portion of your earnings that you intend to save, and using the rest to enjoy life. Some people say "Don't buy a fancy new car, that's just wasting money" but to me, as long as you're already setting aside your savings then go for it, buy that car you always wanted, go on that vacation, enjoy your youth. Just don't be one of those people who sacrifices their future to live in the moment, because a time will come when you look back and think "Man, I had fun but was ALL of that really necessary? I probably could have done with a little less to not be SO broke in my older years." Honestly, I've found that by setting aside a pre-determined amount of savings each month, it actually lets you enjoy life much more. Even though you have less to play with now, you don't have that constant worry in the back of your head about your future. It allows you to enjoy what you have more fully.

mental health issues and did not have any fun in high school. It didn’t help that the last third (the last 3 months of my junior year and the entirety of my senior year) of my HS years were online because of the lockdown. The isolation really messed me up and made my issues worse. I’m supposed to be at college having a great time, partying , meeting new people, but I deferred and am trying to work on myself, but it’s so hard to see a way out of this for me. So here I am, an 18 year old anxious piece of shit who hasn’t had any fun and hasn’t lived at all. My teenage years were wasted and I just hope that I can heal and make up for that in my 20s. Damn sorry i just needed to get that out ig.

Point 1: Time is more important than money. Which is why you should save, because it can take a lot of time to earn money. You essentially sell your time to do so. So that's why you should be careful with what you spend on, if you're like most people whose income is not sustainably passive. But on the other hand, money is useless without spending it. You only have so much time, you might have less than you expect. You don't want a "whoops" moment where you saved and saved then died before having fun. So it is in the end a balance. Time is more important than money, which is why you should spend some, but also save some. Point 2: As for judging people for making charity videos. I think that comes from a place of believing the video was made for "virtue signaling," to make it look like they're a generous person. This can be accurate sometimes, all the more evident in social media era where clout is all. But just because it happens, doesn't mean you should always assume it of others. When you start to assume it by default, that can be a slippery slope down a dark path where you eventually dislike people for doing good deeds, like some weird Grinch; speaking from experience. But at the same time, it's not always true that a good deed is only done out of altruism (evident in politics). I prefer to lean toward believing in my fellow average joe, while not being naive to a fault. Try to look at the context of the situation, and use discernment where you can, case-by-case. Find a balance, because delusional views seem to come from what was at first a logical thought, that gradually extremifies into something not.
