If you have Marc's ear, this with a polished bezel, slightly reduced size, and less contrasting GMT hand would be a phenomenal dress watch. This release really brought my attention back to Islander. Love it!

With Islander, everyone is all on the Northport, specifically the colored variants, but do not sleep on the black ISL-154. Northport has same dimensions as the Seiko SPB143 "62MAS" & the black version is the perfect anytime desk diver. Major advantage: the bezel is SKX007 compatible, so you can swap out inserts. The dimpled dial plays very well in the light & becomes essentially flat-matte black without direct light

It has a lot of cool design features, but I am not a GMT fan maybe to do that I don’t need one, but It is a nice watch in spite of it being a GMT

Grand Seiko has a GMT and this Islander is definitely the homage. The Thor Hammer second hand counter balance is a playful touch I think.

I am waiting/hoping for Marc to re-release the Islander Republic (ISL-138) GMT with a Miyota 9075 movement. That is one of the few GMT watches with Arabic's on the dial (3-6-9-12). All the others have stick indices and look either either like a Rolex or Grand Seiko clone. With a travelers GMT movement in there, I think it would be one of the best aviation styled watches on the market. Marc, hope you are listening!

Hi Shane, this is a very, nice watch. However, would this not have been a traveler GMT i (f Marc put in the Miyota 9075)? Yes, Marc has two other 9075 GMTs but this color is the nicest one.

I'd love to see a 9075 version, but I think it would double the price. Mark has one of the cheapest 9075s out there and I think it's about 570.

If you want the specifics, you'll probably have to ask Mark, the owner of the brand. But I'm 99% sure it's in China, like most watches these days.

The GMT complication is just a complication I don't care much about in an analog watch. My $20 Casio AE1200 will track four time zones and account for DST without all the hassle and thought that goes into setting a GMT. The Islander is a nice looking watch. I just don't get all the hype around GMT watches. It is like riding a horse cross country when you could drive or fly.

I have the blue dial version. Wish it was a little smaller. It’s a little too big for my 6.5” wrist. It’s a nice price at a great price but if you prefer smaller watches this is not the model for you.

I love some of their designs but I can't get over the logo or the font for "Islander." IMO, the logo should elevate the watch and this just doesn't do it for me.

My god the macro footage doesn't take any prisoners, the fit and finish on this watch is, well, not great. At least it's cheap though.

Macro footage usually doesn't. Honestly, those never look good, especially with textured dials and brushed finishes. So it's good to know that it's different when looking at it from arm's length.
