Two Quick Notes: 1. The Bezel insert on the listed specs says sapphire. However, when Elshan emailed me about it he mentioned the MOP insert had a layer of epoxy to protect it. I emailed him for clarification and he says that the other versions have sapphire, but the MOP and Adventurine has an epoxy coating to protect it. 2. Pretty solid Zelos fanboy here, but that also means I have a few already. Going to give this one a miss not because it's a bad watch but because it isn't filling a niche for me. I've honestly been hoping for Zelos to put out a smaller, understated sports watch with an aventurine dial for a little bit now. Then I discovered Christopher Ward makes one. I find it interesting that we are so specific about a relatively minor difference in GMT functionality, but there are at least three versions of a world timer that we all call the same thing. I would say that a watch where the GMT hand is replaced by a 24 hour track that spins and can be set to align to a city list is a 'true world timer' and that this style is 'gmt with a world timer bezel'. Is there an official designation for the different types of world timer?

I've seen others ask that before, but as far as I know there is no official designation or consensus. Generally, if it has world time capabilities it's a "world timer".

As someone who prefers the cleaner look of a caller gmt with a 24 hour bezel and dislikes the busy look of worldtimers, this watch is not for me. With that said, I hadn't thought of the point of the travelers gmt/worldtimer combination being a better combination that is simpler to use. From a design standpoint I like that Zelos has built their own style and brand identity to stand out compared to other brands. With that said from a design standpoint there are a few things I like and dislike about this watch. The yellow accents work perfectly with the MOP dial/bezel. The handset feels too generic especially with how unique the original handset was with the og thresher. The case design is pretty cool as well with inspiration from multiple other Zelos watches. I see Mako, Blacktip, Hammerhead, and Eagle. I like how the moment I see the case side profile it looks "Zelos" while still clearly being it's own unique model. When they make a diver version of the Thresher I'll probably pick one up

@RelativeTime That makes you an Independent Contractor for Zelos Watches. You see no "Conflict Of Interest" in doing a fair & Impartial review on a watch you accepted for free ? Interesting...
@RelativeTime4 ай бұрын
@@finster444k Did I say that? No, I was just pointing out that things aren't always as black and white as some make them out to be. Don't get me wrong... is there potential for a conflict, or temptation to pull some punches. Absolutely... but it doesn't mean everyone always falls to that. Plus, you can believe me or not, but that temptation also gets less the longer you do this. And after 7 years of doing this as a hobby... I could give a $hit if a brand gets pissed off at me. I understand where you are coming from. Heck, there are a lot of reviewers I don't trust. They either don't know what they are doing or are trying to game the system for all it's worth. Although I like to think it's more from incompetence than most of them trying to do something shady. They don't take enough time to do a review. To fully get to know the watch. They just turn the camera on as soon as they get something and ramble on whatever comes to their head. Which does you the viewers a complete disservice. Especially when it comes to microbrands like this, where no one else is getting to see it before real people are going to be spending their hard-earned money on it. So it's the smart thing when watching a review to take everything anyone says with a grain of salt. Yet at the same time, it's important to also realize each reviewer does things their own way. We aren't all the same. What I was also trying to imply earlier is that I will not be monetarily coming out ahead by making this review. I can guarantee I will be paying more in taxes than I will get from KZbin in ad revenue for this. In short, since I have no plans on selling this watch, making this video cost me money. Which brings up the question. If that is the case, what would my motivation be for not speaking my mind about this one? To not be "fair and impartial" as you say? To get more watches from the brand? Well, then it's the same situation all over again. And even if I eventually sell one of those down the line... well that's a whole hell of a lot of work making multiple reviews for that. Now that said. Is there anything specific you disagree with in the video? That you think I got wrong?

so Mexico City was set and how do you tell any other City time? there's no hand pointing at it
@RelativeTime4 ай бұрын
The point of the world timer bezel, is that there isn't a hand. The GMT hand will typically point to your home time. So rotate The bezel so that your home time lines up with your home City/ time zone. After that, the bezel is organized in order of time zones. So you just find the other City you want to know about on the bezel. Then read what the 24-hour time is just inside the dial.
@donbennett92014 ай бұрын
@@RelativeTime thank you bro. I appreciate the response. from what I can determine well what I'm doing is looking at that new thresher the zelos thresher that's coming out in 1 hour lol. it appears that the bezel for a world timer is made for a calculation. Just bought the MOP Thresher and I do have to say that the pics on the Zelos site DOESN'T do this watch justice at all. The pics on the website are a very vibrant blue MOP, when the watch is really a darker MOP. I would have NEVER bought it just from the pics on the website alone. Zelos needs to fix that quick. Also I am a Zelos Collector. This will make the 25th Zelos watches I own now. I really like the business model that Elshan has done, but I personally think he is missing the mark as far as sells go. Most all of the watches sell out fast, with the exception of the last few launches. I can understand not wanting to sit on stock, but I personally think Elshan could sell more than 200 watches in a particular dial if he could get into more stores, but that takes stock and money. As it stands right now Elshan makes a pretty good profit on the watches for the price he sells them for. But I think there is more demand than supply sometimes, Makes the secondary market fun though. And another thing Elshan needs to fix is the fact it takes 3 weeks for the watches to ship from the time you buy them online. Why the wait???? The watches are already made, and that is very evident of all the KZbin videos that are done where you can see the serial number. If you put two and two together it doesn't make sense at all. Zelos is the ONLY brand that I have encountered where it takes more than 3 weeks to get your watch. Been watch collecting for more than 30 years, and have 476 watches in my collection and I find myself wearing my Zelos watches more than any other watch I have. I'll wear a Zelos over my Omega's and that is saying a lot. Micro Brands like Zelos are just fun! Elshan designs watches for fun. And you can tell from the dial options that a lot of thought went into them .

For the date, you are not correct. I have the Zelos GMT Mako Cracked Ice and you can move the date back if you rotate the hour backward.
