Smash Run is probably one of, if not my all time favorite single-player smash bros experience from the entire series. Hell, if you’re able to find friends with 3DS’s and Smash then it’ll be great for multiplayer too. It’s like a mini bite sized Subspace, and it changes around all the time so it has great replay-ability.

Smash Run is genuinely one of the best things they've ever made in a Smash game. A small part of me saw a future where they just cranked that map to 11, added more enemies and a slowly shrinking blast zone and called it a Smash Battle Royale mode. Imagine how fun that could have been in Ultimate.

Smash 3DS came out at the perfect time when I was in college and saw all my friends at the lunch table between classes. All of us having a copy of Smash to play with each other any time we wanted was absolutely fantastic, and yeah, Smash Run is a criminally underappreciated mode that should absolutely come back to the series at some point.

Smash Run was the best side mode ever concieved in Smash and it's absolutely criminal it wasn't included in Wii U and Ultimate. Imagine all the players gathering the power ups on the same field, instead of instances like on 3DS, teaming up against strong opponents or trying to backstab each other in the process, racing to items.

I grinded very hard to beat classic with every character, beating all star with every character, getting all achievements, and collecting ever single custom move. Then, once I was done I created 3 versions of EVERY character. Rock, Paper, Scissors. As you can imagine rock increases defense, paper does speed, and scissors was something to be feared. Combining 3 max powered stat boosters with 4 custom special moves to best fit the kit- I had created a masterpiece. It was so fun I would grind regular matches against cpu because the new gameplay was hilarious and fresh. If you can, give it a try you will not regret it

from my experience with uprising, mimicuties are as fierce as they are in smash. they had a ton of health plus they dealt a lot of damage. fortunately iirc they're only encountered late in the game and are rare.

The best part of playing Smash Run was buffing up Sonic's speed to the max and then pray to God you get the race mode at the end and leave your enemies in the dust. Waiting right next to the finish line for 2 minutes for everyone else to catch up and then mock them and cross it the moment they're in sight.

I honestly feel bad I didn't give the modes in 3DS smash more attention. It didn't help that I didn't have many friends nearby, and I remember the online not being all that great, but if I had those things, I would have been right there to appreciate them as hard as you have. Hopefully in the future modes like this come back. That, and adventure mode for real.

1:58 I have been saying this for YEARS. Smash Run is such a god tier mode and the Classic Mode was actually playable. It bewilders me how go from one of the best Smash modes ever to SMASH TOUR and it then being a 3DS exclusive probably till the end of time. One of my favorite Smash Run powers has to be the Spinning Blades, at max level they basically rip whatever enemy is near you to bloody ribbons. Works wonders at clearing crowds of peons or for shredding through a tough enemies massive stamina.
