This honestly looks better than how I remember it looking in real life. That ND filter really does add drama to the picture, and I'm really glad I have a screen to take advantage of the extra pixels!

noiicceee! Most of the drama comes from the colorgrading though. The raw ProTune video looks completely dull. But I like it this way very much now.

Great video as ever man. Really envious of you riding on those amazing roads and scenery. Here in the UK you get a small village and angry locals every 2km! As per knee-down, when I tried it myself I realised my outfit wasn't comfortable enough. Thick leathers aren't great but your trousers should have flexibility of yoga pants :-) On one KZbin video a track day instructor said 'whatever you're doing try and exaggerate it because you're not doing it enough first time'. With that he meant if you think you've moved half your butt cheek chances are it's only 1/4. With the lean angles you get you should be going through sliders every 10km :-) In terms of feeling comfortable on the left but not right, I had the same issue and realised I'm not bending my wrist for my arms to get in to a comfortable position so there was always a fight to figure out what went wrong. Try and not keep a finger on the brake lever for a bit until you get comfortable I'd say. Good luck!
@vedatcoskun8 жыл бұрын
Also not teaching anyone how to suck eggs, I recently got in to this and sharing my experience :-)
@Schaaf8 жыл бұрын
thanks for sharing though!! Your instructor was spot on. I only was able to pull off the knee downs after I decided to exaggerate the sliding off the bench. I don't know how much sense the finger theory makes though because I'm always keeping one finger on the clutch lever all the time.
@vedatcoskun8 жыл бұрын
+Schaaf no worries, I would have given his video another like for you but I only get one chance :-) re: fingers bare in mind you're not rolling the throttle with your left hand though. At least that was the problem I found with myself. I always try to be as smooth as possible mid corner and only reach the clutch past apex. Don't wanna sound like a track day bro but it's tons better to try it on the track as road riding can be more complicated. Maybe next time get a bump or side cam and see what you're actually doing. Even better get a friend follow you :-)
@Schaaf8 жыл бұрын
yea you're right about the throttle. Although I always prefer left over right handers. Also in neutral riding style. It's been like that since I started riding. Plus at the end of this season I realized that on the right side I simply wasn't sliding off the bench as much as on the left side because of that uneasy feel in right handers.. I'm fairly confident I'll fix it quickly next season though. Thanks again for your advice.
@vedatcoskun8 жыл бұрын
+Schaaf it'll be a piece of cake for you I'm sure! Keep up the good work my friend and hopefully catch you on another of your videos. Ta da

Amazing scenery and amazing road. For me it is so strange seeing soo much development in alpine areas. I live in the Rocky Mountain region in the US and for the most part our alpine areas are all undeveloped wilderness with only a handful of paved roads even going above treeline (our treeline is also much higher than the alps at 11,000ft). I definitely feel your pain with the carbureted bike at high altitude, I remember my old Suzuki Bandit 600 only being able to climb some of the mountain passes in 4th gear.
@Schaaf8 жыл бұрын
thanks for the interesting comment mate! I sometimes have these moments in which I wish there would be less development "up there"... but on the other hand I like the fact they're making it accessible for so many people and that indeed many folk want to spend time up in the mountains without having to hike for ages. But Großglockner Hochalpenstrasse is a bit extreme anyway since it's just SO famous around here. Even in Austria there are still a few mountain passes left which will lead you through wilderness rather than touristic hot spots :)

Danke dir Schaaf! Du fährst großartig. Liebe Grüße aus Baden bei Wien.
@Schaaf6 жыл бұрын

Great vid. I like to get my hand on a good cb500 one day. Actually, you dont need to be hanging on the side of the bike to get your knee down. Another good ride, thanks for that. As for all the "you should ride like this and lean like that or don't put your knee down" brigade!! Fuck that and do it how you feel is best for you! I can't drop off the side to corner because i'd be stuck there till i fell off. We all ride slightly differently from everyone else so whatever floats your boat is fine by me. I made a deal with my spine, i'm going for a ride when i have something to stick on the bike to commemorate the ride even if my spine isn't willing. So i have to have something special, something very special to stick on my little Honda that says "This is who i like" and "This is what i'm like" you either like me or you don't, simple!!! Ride and just for you "Speed Safe".

To be honest: riding hang-off in order to reduce the lean angle is not always the best choice one can make! Why? Simple: nearly all of us ride multi-compound tires these days. Which means: the tires feature a more harder mixture of rubber in the center of the tread, while on it's shoulder is a more soft mixture, effectively providing more grip (and greater wear, thats the reason for the mixture in the center). Since the centrifugal forces a tire has to handle are independent (!) of the lean angle at a given speed, it is not a good choice to burden these centrifugal forces on the harder rubber mixture! Riding hang-off only should be taken into account if the lean angle of the motorbike is that great that the edge of the shoulder is effectively reducing the area in which the tire makes contact with the tarmac!

don't worry, I'm reaching enough lean, even with hang off, to make use of the softer compound. I know my BT45s by heart.

It's not that I don't know that you can ride... I saw nearly every video you uploaded here on KZbin. It's just that the often used explanation "riding hang-off to reduce my lean angle in order to ride more safe" is just not right for most of the riders. In fact, in most cases it is just the opposite, because ppl are riding waaaayyy more upright than they believe they are doing.
@Schaaf8 жыл бұрын
didn't say that. But I can assure you that I'm using all of the soft part. My ass can reassure. I definitely don't think that riding hangoff is safer. I just prefered it on that day and road because it indeed does reduce my lean angles. But like I said the angles don't get reduced enough to be on much of the hard compound of the tires. My angles are reduced for my standards. Which still means rather big lean compared to your average rider.

@Schaaf6 жыл бұрын

Why doesn't austrian or german bikers say hello to each others while riding ?
@Schaaf8 жыл бұрын
they do. But they are smart enough to stop doing it on roads which are crowded with bikers.
