that's the thing. I immediately feel "under pressure" when it happens. It's also why I immediately make way

I feel the same as you do, but since I don't ride even close to that, I'm mostly letting other people overtake me. What I find impressive, is that you manage to cool down rather quickly afterwards. Nice video, as always.
@Kwakboy7 жыл бұрын
Yups, I feel the same way. Although I must admit not to be tempted to return the favor breathing in their necks for some hot corners too. ;) Not always a safe thing to do, I know... But just to check how good (they think) they really are and before I can behave myself again.

Schaaf, while this reply is 4 years after the video was made, I think it is important to say this. Keep the content that you felt you could have cut out. Your bad behavior is a wonderful, teachable moment for anyone watching. It is one thing to be told not to do something. But seeing wrong and then being told; "Don't do this", has a far greater impact for teaching and understanding. There are far to many videos out there that show the wrong things, but do not admit it was wrong. Any new rider seeing said wrong things could and would get the wrong impression and think such actions are ok. You, did wrong, then admitted you did wrong and explained why. That has so much power when teaching new, up and coming and experienced riders. One does not know what is wrong until they see and are told it was wrong. Thank you sir.

Again Schaaf shows you don't need the latest supersports to have alot of fun. Just some common sense the right road and weather. It's refreshing to see a machine being ridden towards it's max capabilities rather than a guy on a super sports/naked using a third of its performance. Okay you got impatient and once passed those guys continued for a short while at a fair old speed. But I wouldn't lose much sleep Schaaf, the danger levels were not crazy high. You all got home unharmed. As regards why didnt they back off and let you pass? They probably felt they were riding at a good pace and if you wanted to pass you would of. Remember although it's polite to let you by, they don't have to. At the end of the day if there's a slow rider in front just pass, but if you can't check yourself for the reasons why not rather than them. Cheers

Shaaf I wouldn't worry about leaving your mistakes in, its definitely a good thing! I might not have even realized that i'm blocking a biker, although I'm usually pretty polite and let faster vehicles pass me, but I know this video will come to mind when I'm in a situation like that. I've actually been in a weird position where I was riding home with a friend on the back and two bikers stopped next to me at the lights and said hello, I waved them past when the light was green knowing the road ahead is super fun and I've got a passenger, one went ahead but the other didn't overtake. I took it as them egging me on a little, which I definitely took to and had a fun little chase. However the road is not the kindest one and we ended up coming off the road ( luckily I realized and just took us onto the grass instead of a tree and we didn't come off) but I think it just proves that when your on the road you don't always make the best decisions, but I certainly learned from that experience and I think sharing things like that will help others stay safe too.

Another great video. Your riding is great and I can't believe how you wring the neck of the CB500. I'm going to subscribe. As far as the passing, few get the feeling.....true riders will. It is that feeling of pushing your limits, pushing the edge. One can't really feel alive, without dancing on the limits of death. I have been there....used to be there all the time. Then I had kids and had to slow down. But that feeling.....it is better than anything else sometimes. Ride on, ride safe.

Yeah I agree with you on the corner blockers, I think some of it is down to ego and some to simply not realising the fact that if you have arrived behind them and you weren't there when they set off... you are riding faster than they are! First of all nice riding and it takes some balls - to admit a mistake for riding on the limit. Nice description and i totally agree with you. If someone is faster or even not and he is behind I try to let him overtake me. But the remark from Matzen Toni is also true. They wanted to show that they rule their home road. Happend a couple of time to me in Austria when some guys see my slovenian number plate. Of course they don't know that i ride these roads now for more than 10 years very often and I know them really good.

But solid for leaving the bit's you'Re not proud of in there. I'm trying to do the same and present an honest account of this thing we do! In my opinion, I didn't see the rear guy turn his head once. I think he was mostly unaware, or simply ignoring you. If I'd had you behind me like that, my spidey senses would have been going CRAZY! ALWAYS let the faster guys in front. You were right to pass them. The guy at the rear was especially ignorant, constantly swinging way over to his left when it was unnecessary. I always move out of the way when someone quicker approaches me and wave them on, even if I'm in the middle of my "quick" ride on a nice road. The only thing I find more frustrating in that type of situation is when I give way to the other biker and they don't pass me.

Hi Shaaf, I was at Passo Broncon 3 days ago. Beautiful road and landscape. Are you touring Italy several days? Saturday I will visit Terento. Ride safe :-)
@Schaaf7 жыл бұрын
thank you!! I was there for just two days of touring in September of 2016! I stayed in Bolzano city!

@Schaaf I have a question. Have you noticed any difference since you're riding on your little Honda with windshield on? Some people claim that it pretty much raises the comfort, how about you? I wonder to buy it. As always, amazing riding tho, greetings from Poland! :)

I know that feel, and yeah, it sucks. Next time, as you can do it to overpass, use the horn and maybe they will get more attention and not cockblock. Great vid and amazing views, as always :)
@Schaaf7 жыл бұрын
yes I was thinking about using the horn but that would've felt too annoying or too daring to me, especially since they were locals. Thanks!!

Just as a point of interest, do you give other riders a foot salute as you pass them? It's less common than the head on throttle hand salute, but is really useful at your 'spirited' pace.
@Schaaf7 жыл бұрын
I sometimes do it, yes
