I also relax my hair between 6-8 weeks. Depending on my diet, sleep schedule, water intake, etc. my hair grows a bit quickly sometimes. The line of demarcation bw relaxed and curly hair is delicate and i do my best to keep it as close to the root as possible. Ppl saying to stretch don’t realize that managing two completely different textures is one expensive and two damaging. I can stretch my relaxer a bit longer than 8 weeks if I wear wigs, but otherwise my hair starts breaking at the line of demarcation. Just be careful with overlap and make sure to leave some texture in the hair.

You're absolutely right about everything you said. I'm currently experimenting with (2) textures and causing minimal pooping and breaking. I've noticed if you use wide-tooth combs on the relaxed part and finger massage and detangling grease into the new growth. Attempting to use a hair tool on your new growth will cause chaos and major breakage. *And use natural oil coconut and sweet almond are some oils to start with.

you and your hair are gorgeous!! thank you so much for this video, I was never taught how to do my hair and I go to the only african salon in my city but she “touches up” my hair by putting relaxer all throughout it. I only realised recently how bad that was a few days ago, and my hair is breaking a shitton cause of it 😭. your video was rly helpful, hopefully I can start doing it myself!!!

If you need help stretching try using turbans I do a full wash routine/ air dry then put the turban on so nobody sees what’s underneath. Try stretching out your relaxers 12-24 weeks if possible because you can over process your hair. Also try going up w/ relaxers instead of relaxing your edges first because they are the most fragile and can thin out. So if you are using a mild relaxer try a stronger strength or use a different brand. Love your results but over time your hair will thin out :) trust me ik from experience!

I honestly love how you greased the scalp first. I see so many girls on youtube who seem like theyre not doing it right. A hairstylist said you have to base/grease the scalp as well as the hairline.

6 weeks is a month and a half I’d prefer to stretch longer to prevent overlapping. What indeed works for you is what you should do. TFS
@natasha38344 жыл бұрын
Six weeks? That's very dangerous for your hair. I undertsnd you may want it to look sleek and luxurious all the time, but a little new growth and texture is beneficial for you and your hair. you should try and stretch a minimum of 8 weeks and your edges should be last unless you are inspired by Naomi Campbell's edges.

thank you so much for the video! I just waited 3 months to do my roots but i have a section of my hair that didn't relax properly the first time (i did it last and it didn't have time to process fully :/) do you think i can go over it when i do my touch up? thanks, have a nice day

Please don’t take this offensively , I understand everyone has their preferences but six weeks is way too soon love! That means you are exposing yourself to the chemicals in relaxers wayyy more often than if you decided to stretch anywhere from 8-12 + weeks. Relaxers are no joke and can cause very serious health issues such as fibroids and breast cancer. I am in no way shaming you or trying to discourage your use of them just cautioning you on the consequences of consistent use of relaxers over a long period of time. You are young , vibrant, seemingly healthy and very beautiful so please do your due diligence and try to limit the use of the chemicals by doing other alternatives such as blow drying/flat ironing /hot combing your roots and wearing other protective styles during the stretching periods, when your hair is not as manageable. From what i can see your natural texture seems to be loosely curled in comparison to much kinkier textures (4b/4c) so I believe you can easily find other ways to style! Best of luck to you love. 🙏🏾❤️
