People keep complaining about keratin treatments, but don't get off the creamy crack will literally burn through your scalp. The reason why you hate your keratin treatment is either bc you have a protein sensitivity, you having protein overload (layering protein treatments with keratin treatments), or your not following hair care instructions, you're not using the right shampoos and conditioners, and your not moisturizing your hair. It's not high matainance; if you're black, thats just basic haircare. You're natural hair, heck even a relaxer will do even worse over time if you don't follow instructions. I know first hand, I had to chop everything off. Don't be stupid, DO NOT LAYER RELAXER ON TOP OF OTHER RELAXER, BUT ALSO DONT LAYER PROTEINS OVER OTHER PROTEINS!! That's why your hair is brittle and breaking off.

Theresse Hensley+ Yessss. My uncle is a cosmetolgist and he owns his own salon. He did a Brazilian Blowout on my hair and my daughter's hair, and our curly hair turned out beautiful and bone straight. You do have to keep it up. Ours lasted around 4 months. I wouldn't recommend doing this blowout if you want to get your curls back, because I no longer have a curl pattern like I did before. I am hispanic and my daughter is hispanic and black. I have 2a, 2b, 2c type hair and my daughter has 4a, 4b, 4c hair. We shampooed our hair and even went swimming tons of times during the summer, and our hair didn't get curly until around 4 months after our blowouts. I do feel like it made our hair dry and it messed uo my curl pattern I had before.

I have had a keratin in my hair for over a year. The only thing I do not like about the keratin is that it made my hair too straight. It absolutely will not hold a curl for more than a few hours. Now that it is finally growing out (and I have had my hair trimmed and cut since the treatment) I am reluctant to get the keratin again and scared to perm the new growth in my hair. Any suggestions?

This has been the most informative video I've seen on keratin treatment; thank you very much :) I did a keratin treatment in August 2016. Initially my hair was more manageable, bouncy and beautiful. Two to three months after the treatment my hair is falling out uncontrollably and I don't know what to do. Since I prefer straight hair instead of my normal 4c hair, I was thinking if relaxing my hair would help. Or is the breakage occurring because I need to apply a keratin treatment every six weeks like a relaxer? Since the keratin treatment, I no longer have 4c hair. My hair is a mixture of straight and curly hair; my Afro is gone. Any advice to stop the breakage and maintain length? Is the breakage occurring because I need another keratin treatment?

Keratin treatments are too strong. Too many passes of the flat iron with the temp maxed out. You need more gentle smoothing treatments like Chi Enviro or Avlon Texture Release. They use less heat and less passes. You can leave your hair in a natural state and you will have defined curls versus the wavy, limp noodle hair keratin treatments leave you with. Tons of videos on KZbin showing smoothing treatments on natural hair.

I did an at home texturizer and it just hasn’t done enough for me (personally) when I was in middle school and partly high school I wore my hair straight all the time. Now, 6 years later I’m done having it natural. So my question for you is this: Since it’s texturized, can I go get a relaxer? And then do a keratin treatment to keep “insurance” on my hair?
@hannaliesel8764 жыл бұрын
I got a Keratin treatment. At first I loved it, but it did not really relax my curls. Blow-dry time was quicker, however, I did not like the feel or the result of it after I had first washed my hair afterwards. I have Jewish hair-very fine but coarse and very thick. I am a wash and go type of person. I lead a very busy life and do not want to spend much time on it. Which would be best for me-a relaxer or another Keratin treatment? P.S. I was watching an African American girl get a Keratin treatment done at the same time. Hers turned out so much better than mine. Was it the stylist or just my hair?
@britjj51264 жыл бұрын
Might be the stylist... I have type 4 coily natural hair and ended up doing it on myself as I don’t trust stylists in my area to do a good job on my hair. It came out great! My hair curls and hair is much more smoother. That was 4 months ago and my hair has grown some and I’ve also used semi permanent dye on it since. Looks healthier than ever. Will probably do it again soon as I bought more than 1 diy treatment!

@@hannaliesel876 I see. Umm my curls were still intact but less frizzy which is what I was after. I have had relaxers in the past and I personally don’t like them because in my opinion maintaining relaxed hair is more work. I had to always protect my ends from fraying and put product on it nightly to maintain the health as it was susceptible to breakage and dryness plus is permanently alters the hair texture not to mention I had to be extra careful on relaxer day when applying the chemical to not to accidentally get it on body parts i.e my eyes 😩
