Maya as a natural I have to agree. As bad as her statement was it’s true. If only they knew what harsh chemicals and toxins are in those relaxers... it’s best to just take the time to care for your natural hair. Once you relax the damage is done can’t go back unless you cut... I’ve also watched naturals who relaxed their natural hair and regretted it. 😔💔

I’ve had natural, relaxed, dreads and all them braiding extensions/protective styling and to be completely honest, I will never judge what a black woman wants to do with her hair because all is a lot of work and stress. Hell! I shaved all my hair off and that was stress too. We need to calm tf down and stop acting like one way (going natural) is the best way

And at that length the woman in the video is at is soooo frustrating to deal with. I have naturally curly hair that grows like crazy. I don’t have any insecurities whatsoever about my hair. I relaxed it because I wanted to and ain’t nothing nobody can do about that. #letpeoplelive

Yoni592 XO Lol no one is making a big deal out of it honestly. No one is bashing her at all. It’s the people that leave the natural hair community who make up the most excuses for relaxing. Either remain natural or relax. It’s your hair at the end of the day but don’t accept that damaging your hair with toxic chemicals is ok because you aren’t satisfied with the “look” of your natural hair. If you choose to relax then that’s ok but at the end of the day you have to deal with and manage the health of your hair. If it doesn’t apply let it fly 🤷🏽‍♀️❤️

Imagine bashing a woman because she doesn't live by your standards, SHE NOR HER HAIR IS BOTHERING YOU !! It's deadass 2019 and y'all "Naturals" still bashing people who wear relaxers, dyes, texturizer and perms when in fact it's none of your business.. it makes no sense to me. I'm 20 an been natural all my life but I do be tempted to try a relaxer, I just never did it cause idk if I should do it at home or the shop.. so as a result I cut my hair 2 times a year.. does that mean I bash folks that do get perms and relaxers ? Hell no because it's not my head

Now, you feel she is doing wrong, understood, but I feel she is doing exactly what she wants to, her RIGHT. Even if she start over, or not, down the road, this Beauty needs this for her comfort right now! Heck, like I said in my last post, I am ready to toss a Mizani Relaxer in my nieces hair the moment she say jump! Her natural hair takes a very long time! I do it, don't complain, and want to bust her up side her head when she mention hurting from sitting! I am on my feet doing it, yeah, my back hurts after working on my feet all day. I just politely pray God Grant Me The Serenity in that moment from not jumping off! Her Relaxed hair was easy in comparison! I know both sides of that Sword! Embrace each other and their decisions!

It's not "just hair". Relaxer means something a bit deeper than to just to loosen texure. It was the only way for black people in America to be accepted by a white society for a very long time. When someone wears a "Make America Great Again" hat it's not "just a hat". It stands for hatred, sexism, and racism. Do not dare compare skin tone to hair. You chose to put relaxer in your hair, but you do not choose your skin tone. Be blessed and stay educated!

@@shantellee3308 I do agree. Your not supposed to put it on the scalp, however I've been a licensed stylist for 21 years and I'm positive that it will touch our skin. I spent many years at my craft and have owned 2 salons. After seeing what a relaxer did to a 7year old's head I knew I could not continue doing it to ppl. I became an all natural hair stylist. Although I believe in all hair types and styles and textures I had to look in the mirror at the end of the day. Everyone DOES deserve to feel amazing weather relaxed or natural but every now and then I like to throw in bits of humor and education. That's just me. 💕

Don't relax but that's literally not how the body works. By putting relaxer on your hair it CANNOT get to your skull or brain. :/ Your hands need protecting because your skin is thinner and is in direct contact with the relaxer, your skull and brains are not. What. But I get the hypocrisy comment, if you're going to add it to your hair why not to your hands? It's true, but just because they're built the same way doesn't mean they're going to react the same way. Relaxers are safe (in the regulatory sense) for hair (not scalp, not skin) only hair.

Theres nothing healthy about putting acid on your head and scalp I dont care how you sugar coat it even a silk press is better than a chemical burn. We gotta get out of this delusion that because its straight and looks shiny after slapping a few products on it its healthy.. 🙄 permed hair without product looks a hot damaged mess that's when you can truly see the damage it causes to your hair strands.

I started relaxing my hair at a really young age, like when i was 5, and did that for about 5 years. Then i got natural for another 5 years and this weekend im getting relaxer in my hair, actually from Dark&Lovely as well. Im 15 and it just doesnt work for me to stay natural. My curls are still ruined and cant gettem back and its like my hair has stopped growing + the shrinkage 😫 so no more hot irons to ruin it even more, im going for relaxer (again!) I live in Denmark so its really un-common to se black or mulatto girls with natural hair (which is sad) so i’ll stick to the relaxer and see where it goes..❤️

Seems, a lot of us fell for the “natural hair movement” but we tired of it lol... Love my manageable hair 😍😝 Edit: and oh! Yes to grease. Welcome to the greasy baby movement. Watch your hair grow!!! Grease that scalp.

Whew my head is burning watching this. Every time I think about going back to a relaxer I think about the scalp burning and sores. But that was for me. I love that you are doing what makes you happy 😘

You did a good job it came out great, and not to bone straight.. The main importance now with relaxed hair is to retain length.👌🏽😊

Tried doing natural for four years and fed up because I'm tired of having to braid it all the time and can't put my hair in a ponytail a lot of people say use edge control and gel that does not work for my hair it is extremely coarse and stays matted down so my hair looks short well it is short but not that short so next week I will be getting a LYE perm I had my experience with NO LYE and my hair didn't do good with it I don't care what anyone thinks cause at the end of the day people are always going to have something negative to say it don't even have to be your hair so do you and be happy!
