I remember how excited I was during the lead up to the release of this game back in 2010 when I was still in middle school. Soulsilver is such an excellent game with great style and music.

National Park theme holds a special place in my heart. I would sit on the bench with my Typhlosion for minutes on end like we were actually in the world of Pokemon, just relaxing and taking in the sights, no battling or any stress to work about. Memories

This is very sweet! I used to do the same thing with my Beedrill. It's fun sitting on the beach or exploring a cave while pretending you're there with your Pokémon.

Soul Silver was the last Pokémon game I got before I moved out of my childhood home and went to university. I wasn’t a million miles from home, but I wasn’t under the same roof as my family all the time anymore, my sister next door and ready to play something on the DS or the PlayStation with me. HGSS feels so significant for that. I played the hell out of Gold as a kid when it released, and having that return to Johto in the gorgeous Gen 4 sprites and colours feels like a significant send off now that I look back at it. It didn’t feel that way at the time, I’m retrospectively ascribing that significance, but the nostalgia is bittersweet all the same.

These timestamps are very helpful! This is a beautiful playlist and I was very happy to hear the National Park theme for the first track! I love reading other people's stories when they played these games, so I'll share one, too. I remember catching a shiny weedle on March 14th, 2010, the day when Heartgold and Soulsilver were released in America. That weedle, who I named Lucky, is a beedrill and is currently residing in my Brilliant Diamond. He turned thirteen this year, so he is officially a teenage beedrill!
