Dumb question but what is the difference between a taper and taper fade?

GiovanniLACA17XD they are basically the same because in both cases your blended the hair from a lower point to something with more. Ex. 0 to #2 or even #1 to a number #2. But taper and a fade are two different things. Ay taper is when your doing the blend ONLY on the sideburns and the back of the neck. A fade is a blend that goes all the way around the head

I’ve seen this barber cut other people’s hair he’s not bad but this clients head doesn’t do him justice and his hair type I have clients that I cut and when I cut the whole head the same length it still looks like spots are uneven like if there were dark spots not saying this is the case but it could

All heads are uneven, you can go in and work out the dips so it looks right. Both the fade and shape up are wildly unmatched and pulled too far back, this guy either just having a bad day or stoned as hell.
