American media is some of the worst media in the world that's for sure. I spent some schooling in Germany and their news compared to ours was absolutely insane. I'm from Austria, which is a rather small country in the center of Europe and I live in the countryside and in a small village with a population of about 2000 inhabitants. I love doing sport and especially jogging. One aspect I have always found interesting is that in all these American countryside neighborhoods and mansion districts I hardly ever see any people going out for walks, or doing any activities at all. Here where I live, you would normally always see at least a hand full of people let's say walking along the sidewalks and so on. I imagine if I jogged through these American neighborhoods people might look at me from inside their houses and might think how strange I was doing that.😅

I live in Portugal, and by all means it's a very nice country. It's one of the safest in the world, it's clean and it has a lot of history, a lot of beautiful places to visit. But still, places like this simply do not exist here. My country has a population of 10 million, which doesn't sound like a lot, but we're crammed into a very tiny corner of Europe, so the population density across the entire country is quite large. We have a few remote areas (although nothing like the US), and I do cherish them, but still, we don't really have vast areas that truly feel like the middle of nowhere, and certainly we don't have the space to build neighborhoods like this. There is so much open space in these, so many trees, everything is so neatly organized. Hearing all the birds, the kids playing in the background, no traffic sounds. Sadly, this cannot exist here, and often times you get quite the opposite, many houses crammed into tiny spaces. Has its own charm, don't get me wrong, but at this point in my life it has become a little too much for me... too much noise, too many people surrounding you, it almost makes you feel claustrophobic. Sometimes I long for a bit of solitude, you know? If you grew up somewhere like this, I truly envy you. I grew up watching American films where all the characters lived in such neighborhoods and I always craved living somewhere like this.

However, I think most of us are missing that sense of community you describe. It is very picturesque and there is privacy here, but it’s hard to strike up conversations and build relationships with other neighbors… This country is very focused on the individual and not so much on a tribal mentality… But I think humans are meant to live in close connection with each other. There's just something about the scale of the neighborhoods I don't like. Belgium and Germany have a lot of very similar suburbia but the streets are less wide and there are many visually engaging elements like bushes, hedges and garden decorations at a human scale. To add some contrast, I like the openness of the American suburb more. There are less fances, or other barriers. The porches and park-like atmosphere at the front of the homes make for a quaint, pleasant neighborhood. Still, a few more plants instead of turfgrass wouldn't hurt.

@@Anubhav-hf8wx Well, yes. It's cool for you to sit in calm and safe place. It's how I was watching at Afghanistan and Iran. I was just happy that I don't live there. Now it's became reality and I am here, stuck.
